Chapter 10: Agenda
Not long after, sounds of police sirens could be heard all over the place, causing Anita to breath out in relief.
“Finally, he’s here.” she whispered. Turning to Andre, “record this please.” she said to him and stood up, running in their direction.
Andre froze.
“Anita wait!” he screamed, but could not put down the camera.
What on earth was she doing?
Anita ran all the way and made her way to the front of the police vehicle that had just arrived.
The police men came down and got to duty without minding her except Thomas.
“Leave here!” he screamed and jumped into the fire.
The fire never went out. Even though the police managed to ensure that no life was lost.
Everyone stood as they watched the station burn down to ashes.
Soon, only strong smoke could be seen coming out of the said station as Anita started her interview with Thomas again.
Back in her apartment.
Anita sat on her couch with Kate as watched the headlines.
Kate couldn’t place her fingers on what she felt was wrong with everything happening around her.
“If he knew that was to happen, why didn’t stop it? Instead, he made you do this? Something has to be wrong.” kate said to anita.
“Come on now. Don’t get me started. He is such a good man, why can’t you see it? It would have been an issue if he didn’t appear, but he did. Look!” Anita replied, pointing at the television as it displayed the moment Thomas jumped into the fire to rescue lives.
“He is so so brave and I admire his courage. How many police men did you see that did what Thomas did?” she continued as she asked with pride in her eyes.
She was worried that he wouldn’t show up, but he did. “By the way, you never told me about yourself and your boyfriend. Why don’t you spill?”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Anita there is nothing to spill. Let’s watch the tv.” kate didn’t seem ready for the conversation. Her reaction alone made Anita burst into laughter.
“Sir, I think something is fishy.” Cass stated to Andre.
“Why did you think so?” Andre asked with a brow raised up.
“Sir, it’s a set up. I am confident in my speech. I just don’t know who did it, but I can find out with your permission.”
“No you shouldn’t. As long as it has nothing related to me.” Andre replied with a warm smile.
“You are so dumb, how could you?” the thick voice sounded to Thomas over the phone.
“I’m sorry boss!”
“Sorry for yourself. You are being careless. You shouldn’t have let the whole station burn.”
“Don’t you think he deserves it? I actually think he does deserve it.”
“You don’t seem scared of revenge.” he replied and ended the phone call.
Thomas groaned in pains as he smashed the glass wine in his right hand on the floor.
Damn it! He had never thought of revenge. He shouldn’t have let the whole station burn as it was not his right, but his men should have worked with what he had said.
“He doesn’t even know me.” Thomas knows that it would be hard to bring him down without evidence. The owner of the station would never think of him as a suspect.
“I feel fine! I am fine” he said to himself and focused.
Dialing another number, he picked up another wine glass as he waited for the person to pick up.
“Hello Officer Thomas!” Sam greeted.
“I am not interested in anything of your greetings. Why don’t you guys stick to plan? Do you wish to implicate me?” he asked in anger.
“We are so sorry Sir. We didn’t mean for the whole station to burn down.” Sam replied as his voice shook.
Thomas was so mad that he ended the call to avoid more explanation of his men carelessness.
Kate’s Apartment
“Where have you been kate?”
“It should be, where have you been Alex?”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning, where did you go to for days without even informing me. I didn’t want to stay alone, so since my friend was around, I didn’t think twice before going to her. Where were y…”
PAK!
Before Kate could complete her statement, her ears already went numb.
“Alex why? Why did you do that? I thought you changed.” she turned and. Said to him, hot tears streaming down her face.
“You deserve to be be thought a lesson. I don’t care about what you feel like.” Alex shouted and dashed into his room feeling so irritated be his girlfriend.
Kate stood as she became dumbfounded. How on earth does he keep doing this to her. She was pretty sure that this changed, how come she was facing this again?
Should she remain her like always, or should she leave to her friend’s place? She thought.
Depressed, she said down on the sitting room couch as she reminisced on everything that had been going on.
Two days later,
Anita was in her room getting ready for bed she a knock on the door.
“Who could that be?” she thought.
Standing up, she walked towards the door and had it opened.
When she saw who it was, she froze.
Kate?
Without hesitation, she went close and hugged her right.
“Anita how are you?” Kate asked, her face looking dull.
“I am fine, but how are you?” Anita asked her in concern.
She then led Kate in and locked the door.
“Have you had dinner? I will cook for you.” Kate offered, almost going to the kitchen.
“No no, no need to. I am fine. I had snacks. Why do you look so dull tonight? Also, you came here by 10pm. Is everything okay?” Anita asked.
She didn’t think something was right with the night’s visit.
Kate looked at Anita for a while and went to at on the couch as she kept looking at her.
“Kate, you are different tonight. What is wrong? Tell me. Also, you were away for two days…”
