SPECIAL CHAPTER 1: CLAYTON’S POV
He could not believe what he heard. Faith’s face doesn’t seem to show any expression at all when she said to postpone their wedding for a year even though everything was ready. She was planning to stay in London for a year to be with her prospective business partner to start her own brand of cosmetics.
She said that she needs to learn how to manage her business firsthand so she will stay in London because that is where his fiancee’s business partner will be.
“You can do those things, Faith, even if we’re married. Why do we have to wait for another year?” He just keeps himself from getting annoyed.
How many times has he given in to her requests because he has supported the woman in anything that will make her happy? He can’t allow her to just change her mind after they had sent the invitation cards to everyone.
A big wedding is going to take place because he knows Faith loves that. If he was the only one to decide, he would have wanted only selected friends and family members to witness the wedding, but because he loves Faith so much, he will give everything for her.
“You don’t understand, Clay. I’m sure you want me to carry your child right away after our wedding but I don’t want to. I still have a lot to do and I don’t want to stop my dreams because you want to have a family with me right away.”
She even approached him and caressed his cheek as if she was just asking for a simple request. He stared at the beautiful face of his future bride. He couldn’t quite imagine that he was still an obstacle to her dreams, and he was the only one dreaming of one happy family with Faith.
“Clay …” Faith whispered in his ear as her hands began to travel over his body.
If the woman used to tame him immediately when she warmed his body, now he doesn’t feel anything even if one of her hands was already on his stomach.
He quickly restrained her hand as it was about to enter inside his pants. They were in his office and they were alone in the room because Mrs. Dominguez, his secretary, was out.
“The wedding will proceed, Faith. I’ll take you to London after our wedding even the next day. We can just have our honeymoon there.” He said firmly and then he let go of her hand. He turned away from her to go to his desk.
There was a long silence before Faith answered.
“You’re so selfish, Clay. Do you think I would be happy as your wife if you seemed to be forcing marriage at the wrong time?” The tenderness in her voice was also gone.
He turned violently back to Faith. He was hurt by what he heard and angry at the same time.”Forced? Are you really just being forced into this marriage?” There is no denying how he really feels in the tone of his voice.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Instead of noticing that, Faith raised her forehead even more.
“That’s right. As I’ve said, I’m not ready to become your wife, not yet. I’m only asking for another year, Clay, and you can’t even give that to me!”
Suddenly she turned around and left his office. He wanted to chase the woman as he often did when they quarreled but he was not in the mood to coax her. He was always the first one to succumb to her, but not this time. He was so hurt and he can’t just pretend that it was nothing. Faith might also be expecting that he will follow her and coax her so they won’t quarrel anymore just like what happened a lot of times.
But can he postpone their marriage again and wait for her to be ready? Is it really just for another year? Not a few times have she begged him to move their wedding date. He used to agree because their wedding has not been set yet, but now everything is ready.
He doesn’t care about the money he spent already. He just wants to settle down and start a family. He wants to have a child. He wants a big family.
He only has one brother and their parents died when they were both young. He has been the parent to his brother since their parents died. He did not want to be like them with only two children. He really wants a big family but it seems that Faith doesn’t want to.
He used to notice that Faith didn’t seem to like kids but he just ignored it. Of course, he thought she just wants to enjoy life while she was still single and free.
He took a glass and a bottle of wine hidden from his drawer and poured it out. He also didn’t want to pursue Faith right away this time. What happened to them today was not just a simple fight. He would first give the two of them time to calm down.
After a while, his phone rang. He shrugged when he took it. It is likely that another of his clients is calling. It’s because his day is hardly free with the number of things he takes care of at work. He looked at the phone screen. He suddenly sat down properly when he saw that it was Faith who was calling him. It was the first time that Faith took the initiative to call him after a fight. He couldn’t help but grin before answering the woman’s call. He was happy that she finally managed to lower her pride for him.
He loves her very much and he doesn’t want them to have some misunderstandings for so long so he is always the one who can’t stand it and apologizes first even if it’s not his fault.
“Faith, I knew you’d come to your senses! I’m also sorry if I lost it earlier and I didn’t even bother to bring you home. You-” the smile on his lips couldn’t be erased.
The formerly dark face quickly became clear now. Only Faith can really do that to him.”Clay, stop!” Faith snapped at him.
The smile was wiped from his lips because of her tone.
Aren’t they still okay?
“I didn’t call to say sorry or what. I just want to let you know that my ticket to London is ready. I forgot to tell you earlier because it seems like you were not willing to listen to me. I will still go no matter what. It’s up to you if you follow or you’ll wait. I’m sorry but our marriage should be canceled.”
He was stunned to hear her. He didn’t say a word right away because he didn’t think Faith would be able to ignore everything they had just like that.
Did she really love him?
They’ve been in a relationship for a long time and he’s been sober since they became serious but it doesn’t seem like that’s enough for her. She really doesn’t need a business because he can provide all her needs and wants. He can treat her like a queen and she can just spend his money on everything she wants.
Why is he not enough for Faith?
