Chapter 38: Don’t Punish Me Like This
Chapter 38: Don’t Punish Me Like This
Charlotte subconsciously closed her eyes the moment before her body fell into the sea.
She had suffered a lot in her life and wanted her family to stay alive, but they still died.
When she wanted to die, she was rescued by someone.
And when she wanted to live, fate once again reached for her.
Thump!
Her body fell into the sea.
Charlotte struggled to turn around and she saw the speedboat from afar rushing madly towards her. A
built and black figure was screaming her name.
"Lotta...”
Was it an illusion? Why did the same man flashed through her mind every time she was about to die?
Lawrence.
Rumble...
The extremely cold sea water surged up from all directions, swallowing her body and dragging her into
a huge vortex without mercy. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Suffocation, pain, despair and death, slowly drowned her out.
Her consciousness slowly left her body, and there seemed to be a streak of light ahead.
Then, she heard a splash and saw a slender figure jumping into the water without hesitation and swam
towards her.
Behind him, the sea water turned oddly red.
Charlotte struggled helplessly and tried to open her eyes to see the man's face clearly.
But her body was still descending uncontrollably, and her eyelids were getting heavier.
The moment when she lost her consciousness, a pair of big hands tightly held her waist as he pulled
her up with all his strength.
The next second, Charlotte felt a soft sensation pressing on her lips...
...
Splash...
After a while, a splash sounded on the surface of the sea and Lawrence appeared with Charlotte in his
arms.
When Jeffrey saw them, he instantly jumped up on the deck.
“Hurry! Mr. Harris is right there. Get over there quickly!"
Upon saying that, the people who were initially swimming around with their diving suits immediately
swam towards Lawrence. Along with the people waiting on the deck, they sent Lawrence and Charlotte
to the yacht as fast as possible.
The pool of blood on the deck was all from Lawrence.
Charlotte quietly laid in his embrace as she leaned against him with a pale face. She showed no sign of
life, as if she had already died.
“Charlotte, hang in there!”
She was put on the deck.
Lawrence knelt down in front of her while he was bleeding out. He interlocked his fingers in front of her
chest, and constantly pressed it down. He dared not relax as he kept compressing her chest back and
forth.
She was still unconscious.
Lawrence was stiffened up as he raised his hand to hold her face. He lowered his head over her lips
and performed rescue breaths on her.
“Charlotte, I order you. Wake up!”
Lawrence’s eyes were red, and he looked extremely anxious. His wet hair destructively pasted on his
face, blocking the fear that could be seen clearly on his appearance.
He massaged her over and over again and performed cardiothoracic pulmonary resuscitation on her.
His voice slowly became hoarse.
“Charlotte, could you listen to me? Please open your eyes.”
“You have suffered so much. Don’t you want to do something about it? You can’t leave like this. I’m
telling you, I won't agree!"
Lawrence stopped his movements. He looked at the unresponsive woman in front of him and his eyes
slowly turned red. He reached out his hand to embrace her.
“Lotta, don't punish me like this.”
“I know you're sad, and I know you hate me too. You hated me for not believing in you before and for
missing the best opportunity to save your father and brother. Hence, I’m begging you, please don’t let
me fail to save you too. Lotta..."
Lawrence muttered while choking with emotion as he tightly held her in his arms.
The next second, He felt Charlotte’s body trembling slightly in his arms.
