Chapter 1188
Night fell.
Aurora and Angie were finishing up their dinner.
Aurora didn't have much appetite, but Angie ate quite a lot. Her stomach bulged out as she lounged on the couch, scrolling through her phone and not bothering to help with washing up.
Aurora shook her head helplessly as she stacked all the dirty plates up and washed them at the sink.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
"Angie, I'm going back to my room. Have a good rest."
"Got it," Angie said without even looking up, engrossed in the novel she was reading.
Aurora returned to her room and pulled out her phone. She couldn't stop herself from texting Theodore.
[Theo, what are you doing now? How're you doing?]
A few minutes later, Theodore replied, [I'm doing quite well. What about you? If you need any help, feel free to reach out.]
[I know, Theo.] Aurora wanted to say more, but she was worried about disturbing and annoying him, so she simply replied with an emoji.
Ten minutes later, Theodore texted her back. [Aurora, what I told you at Grandma's previously still applies now. You deserve a better man.]
Aurora's hand trembled.
She bit her lip and tried her best to keep her emotions under control. She threw her phone aside, refusing to reply to Theodore.
'He can forget about dumping me!' she thought.
After spending the next hour in a disoriented and groggy state, Aurora took a shower and lay on the bed.
She felt frustrated and angry. At about midnight, she was woken up by loud cursing coming from the living room.
Aurora opened her eyes and heard Angie cursing again.
She pulled the sheets up over her head in an attempt to shut out the noise, but Angie's voice prated the walls and prevented her from falling asleep again.
Aurora threw her sheets off and got out of bed. She opened the door and headed to the living room, suppressing the anger inside her. "Angie, why aren't you sleeping yet?"
It was already midnight and Angie was still reading a novel on her phone.
"I can't sleep. This is making me so mad. This disgusting author writes horribly. She doesn't even know what she's writing. What in the world is she writing? She has a screw loose! I can write better than her!"
Aurora stood next to her and saw the author's name on Angie's phone screen. It was the author of the novel that Angie had been following. Aurora felt her head pounding. "Since she writes horribly, why do you still follow the story? Do you like being disgusted?"
"I just want to, and I want to scold the author," Angie said self-righteously.
Aurora scratched her head. How was this considered reading? Angie was just venting her frustrations due to her dissatisfactory life.
Each time she heard Angie's curses toward the novel she was reading, Aurora would become more certain that Angie had a screw loose.
Angie behaved as though she knew
the story better than the author and was highly arrogant. She would guess how the story would unfolde and be smug when she guessed right, or scold the author incessantly if she got it wrong, eventually coming to hate the story she was so obsessed over.
"Then just read and be quiet while you're at it. I'm trying to sleep." If Aurora weren't woken up by Angie, she wouldn't have bothered talking to her. “Aurora, look. So many people are speaking up for me," Angie said smugly as she showed Aurora the comments on her phone screen. "I knew I wasn't fighting this battle alone."
Angie went on with a smile, “Look, this user account ending with 1001 and this one ending with 0721 have such foul mouths. Hahaha, I was the one scolded and I'm not getting anxious, but they're acting like mye minions and fighting for me. Especially 0721. She's almost becoming like me, bootlicking me everywhere I go like she's my dog. She listens to everything I say. Do you think she's in love with me? Hahaha, they're so stupid! My heart aches for the male lead. I don't care if he sleeps with other women, but the female lead must remain loyal and chaste."
