Chapter 24 What Is Your Relationship with Him?
Chapter 24 What Is Your Relationship with Him?
She was very grateful towards Alexander for showing himself in her father’s birthday dinner. Now that
he was pretty drunk, she was worried that something undesirable might happen to him if he went to a
gathering alone…
Alexander froze for a moment as he looked at her with doubt in his eyes, “You want to come with me?”
Allison slowly loosened her grip on his shirt while nodding, “Yes, I want to accompany you there.”
She couldn’t tell him that she was worried about him.
When Alexander saw the determined look in her eyes, he raised his eyebrows and asked, “Do you
know what kind of place I will be going later?”
In his eyes, she was as pure as a sheet of paper. The place that he was going was a messy and dark
place.
Allison bit her lips and insisted, “I want to go with you no matter where we will be going.”
After staring at her for a few seconds, Alexander finally let up, “Alright, then let’s go together.”
Letting her gain some exposure to the dark side of the city wouldn’t be half bad either.
After getting his affirmation, Allison couldn’t help feeling joyful.
However, half an hour later, when the car arrived at their destination and she glimpsed the flicking lights
and realized that she was going to enter a luxurious club, all the joy in her heart slowly withered away.
The moment she graduated from university, she had worked as a clerk in a company. She never saw
with her own eyes the types of underground dealings and trades that enabled businesses to flourish.
Naturally, she wouldn’t have been to this type of place beforehand.
She gnashed her teeth as she could only step out of the car and followed Alexander to the entrance.
At the entrance, a waiter came up to welcome them. He greeted politely, “Mr. Parker, come with me.”
It sounded like Alexander was a regular here.
They followed the waiter to an elevator and after exiting the elevator, they strode along a long corridor
and the door to an expensive-looking suite came into view. Just as they were about to enter, Alexander
slowed down and tilted his head towards Allison, “If you even have any sense of regret, you can tell me
anytime. I’ll ask Bernard to lead you out of here.”
Allison nodded, “I got it.”
The waiter pushed the door open and music immediately filled their ears. Allison followed Alexander
into a spacious space. There were people already in the suite, some of them singing and some of them
drinking. A few were seen playing pool on the side.
The moment Alexander appeared, he became the centre of attraction. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
“President Parker! Long time no see!”
“President Parker is here!”
Allison followed Alexander from behind and they sat down on a sofa in the middle. She was slightly
intimidated by the strangers surrounding her.
Suddenly, a warm feeling touched the back of her hand, and she saw Alexander holding her hand and
leading her to the side of the sofa.
“Hey, Alexander, why did you bring a pure-looking girl with you today? Are you getting a change of
scenery? Your taste is so bland today!”
A man wearing flowery clothes chuckled while greeting him. He was wrapping his arms around a
woman wearing revealing clothes, but his eyes were examining Allison non-stop.
Alexander looked upwards and said coldly, “Cameron, can’t you shut up when you have such good
wine to enjoy today?”
The man called Cameron snickered in response, “Alexander, I was just joking, don’t take it to heart! Are
you here to see Franklin? He is inside that inner suite there. He has instructed me to pass on the word.
You can just go in directly.”
Alexander nodded imperceptibly, “Alright.”
After that, he turned around and said softly to Allison, “I have something important to talk to someone
inside. Wait me here. We will go once I’m done.”
Allison nodded obediently, “Alright.”
After getting her reply, Alexander stood up and headed to the inner suite.
Allison stared at his back and was once again sunken into a daze. Although he was in a very vibrant
and messy place, he was still an exceptional and different being compared to others here.
There were people smoking and drinking to their hearts’ contents here. There was only madness here.
She knew very well that he wasn’t someone interested in such trivial and useless affairs.
“Cameron, why did President Parker bring that woman today?”
A sultry voice pulled Allison back to reality. She searched for the source of the voice and saw that it
was spoken by the woman next to Cameron. She was plastering herself on him while whispering by his
ears, albeit loud enough for Allison to understand her words. Cameron simply laughed without restraint,
“Who knows? This is the first time that this has happened, but I can’t really agree with his taste!”
Allison frowned when she heard them discussing about her. She suppressed the displeasure in her
heart and looked away.
After a short while, a woman wearing short red dress came over and first sat down next to Cameron
and muttered something by his ears before facing Allison and studying her with an unfriendly
expression on her face.
Almost immediately, as if she couldn’t hold in her curiosity anymore, she stood up abruptly and settled
down beside Allison, “Hey, my name is Martina, what is your name?”
Allison answered politely when she was being approached by that woman boldly, “Allison.”
Martina nodded while swirling the red wine in her glass as she continued to examine her. After some
time, she spoke again, “I heard that you’re brought here by Alexander?”
Allison replied faintly, “Yes.”
Martina looked visibly discontented as she raised her voice, seemingly attempting to suppress her
anger, “What is your relationship with Alexander?”
Upon facing such an imposing woman, Allison’s face sank as she asked after hesitating, “What do you
think our relationship is?”
Upon hearing that, Martina put on a hideous expression on her face. She continued to hold in her
anger without saying anything more for a moment. Then, she forced am awkward smile on her face,
“What about this? Let’s toast to each other.”
As she said that, she raised her glass while pouring Allison another glass. She pushed that glass
towards Allison,
Allison looked at the wine in her glass and flashed a smile at Martina. She rejected her suggestion, “I’m
sorry, but I don’t drink alcohol.”
“You don’t drink alcohol?” Martina laughed exaggeratedly, “A woman brought by Alexander is telling me
that she doesn’t drink alcohol? Isn’t that the same as bringing shame to his name?”
Her voice wasn’t especially loud, but it was loud enough to attract the others’ attention. They all looked
in their direction with a scrutinizing and suspicious gaze.
Martina watched Allison as she continued to swirl her glass, “What’s more, we are all Alexander’s
friends. Don’t you think that you are being too petty and not showing us face if you can’t even drink a
glass of wine?”
Allison heard her words and couldn’t help frowning. The people around her were casting her strange
glances, which made her heart race in nervousness.
She didn’t want to cause any trouble for Alexander, but at the same time she knew that Martina
wouldn’t let her off the hook just like his.
After taking in a deep breath, Allison stretched out her hand and took the glass of wine from Martina.
She gulped the contents down in one fell swoop.
The spicy and cold liquid slid down her throat and entered her stomach. She shivered slightly in
response to that tingling sensation.
She tried to endure the discomfort within her while putting down the glass and smiling at Martina, “I
have shown you enough face now.”
Martina wasn’t really anticipating Allison to really finish that glass. She knitted her brows and flashed a
perfunctory smile at Allison before looking sideways.
The other women around them who were just watching them previously all reacted by coming towards
her and talking to her, as if they had just received a signal from Martina and was doing this according to
a prior agreement.
Allison watched the many glasses of wine stuffing her field of vision, and her hands slowly clenched
into fists.
It seemed true now that they were trying to make a fool of her on purpose, and from the look of things,
it was highly probable that she wouldn’t be able to escape their grasp.
