Expert Down The Mountain Chapter 32

Archer alone was already enough to stir up panic amongst the staff members of Wolfenden Corp. Now

that Faris, Archer’s superior, was here, perhaps it would be better off for Wolfenden Corp. to venture

into other businesses from now on.

Sadie’s face was ghastly pale. Faris was Archer’s immediate superior! Archer had actually invited a

bigshot like Faris to the company. Was he trying to get her killed? The expressions of the leaders from

the other departments changed drastically as well. Some expressed their panic, fear, and displeasure.

The chief of the human resources department, River, could not refrain from looking toward. Miles and NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

wondered whether this was Miles’ doing.

River wondered how Archer could be so influential that he could even alert Faris. Also, he wondered

what Sadie had done last night to infuriate Archer to this extent.

Meanwhile, River thought to himself, ‘Don’t ever offend Miles.

‘Perhaps Sadie will need to retire from her position after today. Don’t ever think about working in this

field again from now on!

‘No one from the board of directors is going to back up Sadie anymore from now on!’

Miles was pleasantly surprised in his heart. ‘It seems that the little b*tch has offended Archer badly.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have alerted Faris.?

At the thought of this, he said coldly, “Look at what you did, Ms. Wolfenden!”

He glanced at the other leaders of different departments and said solemnly, “Everyone, Mr. Cook is

here in person, so this is not a small matter for sure.”

“However, as the CFO of this company, it’s only natural that I don’t want the company to fall because of

personal reasons!

“I will figure out a way to appease Mr. Cook. On the other hand, this matter must be reported to the

board of directors so that the board of directors can rule a punishment for Ms. Wolfenden!

“By then, I seek your help not to look the other way but recount the incident in its true form to the board

of directors!”

River was the first to respond by saying, “Don’t worry, Mr. Lawson, our human resources department

won’t give a false account. We will tell the whole truth for sure!”

“The planning department too!” The leader of the planning department chimed in as well in haste.

Miles was very proud of himself in his heart, but his expression appeared unpleasant. “Mr. Cook is

here, so we’re going downstairs to calm him first.”

Quite a number of people stood up right away and followed Miles to leave the boardroom quickly.

Few people remained in the boardroom to wait for Sadie’s instructions for the next step.

The manager of the projects department, Sean, was frustrated. He scolded softly, “Ms. Wolfenden…”

Sadie raised her head with a fatigued expression. She waved her hand dismissively and said, “I figure

that I can’t continue to hold the general manager position anymore. The board of directors will call for a

meeting this afternoon at the earliest.

“By then, the general manager position will most probably be given to Miles. Thank you for all your

support in me all this time, everyone.

“Don’t worry, everyone. Even though I’ll be leaving the company, my father will still be here, so Miles

won’t have the audacity to be ruthless to all of you.”

Sean was about to say something when Sadie raised her hand to stop him. Soon afterward, she said,

“All of you may go downstairs. I’ll be right behind you.”

Sean realized that it would be inappropriate for him to comment further upon witnessing the situation.

In truth, he had always admired Sadie’s capability.

Otherwise, he would never have supported Sadie all this time.

It was a waste that Miles was in the company too. When it came to schemes and the world’s ways,

Sadie was still lacking in experience. Everyone, including Kayson, walked out of the boardroom.

Sadie was caught in a daze as she looked at the deserted boardroom. A moment later, she packed up

the documents on the table with a dejected expression.

Kayson stood next to Sean in front of the elevator. His eyebrows were tightly furrowed, and his gaze

was gloomy. Sean suddenly said, “I personally admire Ms. Wolfenhen’s capability very much. What do

you think of her, Mr. Yarde?”

Kayson did not know Sadie well enough, but he was convinced she was competent since she had

overpowered a cunning senior like Miles at her age.

“She’s relatively capable, naturally. Otherwise, how could Ms. Wolfenden possibly be promoted to the

general manager position before Mr. Lawson?”

“You’re right… However, it takes more than just one’s capability to run such a big company…” Sean

heaved a sigh. He was bitter yet frustrated.

Kayson paused for a moment before he said. “That Mr. Cook may not necessarily be looking for trouble

here. I think it’s a bit too early to be pessimistic now.”

Sean could not help laughing in spite of himself upon hearing that. “You’re so naive…”

The elevator arrived, and a group of people entered it.

Downstairs…

Faris was seated on a sofa with Archer whose face was swollen from the beating he had taken.

Meanwhile, Faris felt extremely anxious because he would need to properly manage the situation today

to appease the angry Sadie.

That was the only way for him to convince Kayson to change his perception of him.

Meanwhile, a group of people walked out of the elevator.

The frontmost man had a stern expression on his face as he led the others to approach them quickly.

“Mr. Cook!”

Faris was aware of how the manager of Wolfenden Corp.’s projects department, Sean, looked.

However, he did not have any recollection of the man before him.

“Hello, you are…” Miles said politely in haste, “I’m the CFO of Wolfenden Corp., and my name is Miles

Lawson. You may address me as Lawson!”

“So, it’s you, huh, Mr. Lawson! I’ve long desired to meet you! I heard so much about you!” Faris

behaved courteously.

He knew Kayson was working in Wolfenden Corp., so he was afraid of offending anyone from

Wolfenden Corp. Miles said as if he was overwhelmed by Faris’ attention, “Mr. Cook, you make it

sound so serious! It’s me who has long been looking forward to meeting you!” He was delighted in his

heart. It seemed that Faris had a rather good impression of him. Faris asked, “Mr. Lawson, may I

inquire where Ms. Wolfenden is? Is she reluctant to meet me?”

Miles was momentarily stunned. Soon afterward, he said in a regretful tone, “Mr. Cook, Ms.

Wolfenden’s individual behavior is not related to the company and our business. We hope you can

show your magnanimousness by forgiving her and not taking it to heart!”

“Don’t worry. Our company will acknowledge our mistake sincerely and try our best to make it up to Mr.

Gustin regarding Ms. Wolfenden’s mistake…”

Miles had already seen Archer, whose face was swollen from the beating, and realized that Sadie was

doomed!

Faris was stunned. ‘What the heck is going on!?’

He furrowed his eyebrows and was about to inquire further when the second batch of people walked

out of the elevator.

Faris looked over, and his expression changed when he saw Kayson amongst the crowd of people.

He disregarded Miles, River, and the others instantly and jogged over to Sean, Kayson, and the others

who had just exited the elevator.

As the projects department manager, Sean could remember Faris very well.

Hence, he could not help feeling slightly anxious at the sight of Faris running toward him.

Sean called out. “Mr. Cook!”

Faris nodded, and his gaze landed on Kayson right away. He appeared to be slightly emotional. “Mr.

Yar_”
