Chapter 42 Someone Played Tricks

On Her The Death in Ever-bright City was about a story that happened a century ago.

It was a touching tragic story of two lovers.

The female protagonist was Nova Smith, a girl from a wealthy family. She had met her better half, Michael Gordon when she was sixteen. He was a handsome boy from an affluent family.

Nova fell in love with Michael at first sight. What seemed to surprise her more was the Smith and Gordon families had planned to marry them when they were children. Michael was her future husband.

The two were born to families of equal social rank. Their life seemed beautiful. However, a bolt from the blue turned her life upside down.

Nova found out her true identity. She was actually the child of a maid and someone secretly substituted her for the baby girl from the Smith family not long after they were born. Her parents who raised her weren't her biological parents.

Once their real daughter Isabel Smith returned home, Nova's status diminished. It was testing time for her love.

The two went through a lot of hardships. However, nothing seemed to change their love for each other. Their bond only strengthened with time. They tried their best to unite and live happily ever after. However, time and fate didn't work their way. Nova and Michael plunged into the river on a cold night, making death unite them.

Sierra played the female lead, the fake daughter, Nova Smith. Meanwhile, Claire played the female antagonist, the real daughter, Isabel Smith.Claire's first scene to shoot was with Sierra.

Everyone was excited to start filming the scene.

After all, the two were rivals -- both on and off-screen. One was Darren's ex- wife, and the other was his current girlfriend. The two were associated with the same man in real life. Similarly, they both fell in love with the hero in the movie. Cecil played the role of Michael.

The news about Claire pushing Sierra hadn't died yet. Therefore, Claire's reputation witnessed a sharp decline. Everyone assumed she was a terrible actress and had joined the project by investing in the film and replacing the original actress. Besides, Claire was already a controversial personality and had a bad reputation for being with different men before joining the crew.

They believed she was just a beauty without any talent. Everyone was waiting to see her make a fool of herself.

It was a sunny morning.

The cast and crew gathered at the shooting spot, busy performing their duties. The director, Enzo, sat behind the monitor, communicating with the cameraman and the lighting man to get the perfect shot. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Claire was decked up in a retro outfit. She straightened her outfit and looked at the script in her hand. The first scene was crucial and an enormous challenge for her.

As the film's antagonist, she had to incorporate Isabel's arrogance and cunningness so that the audience despised her and sympathized with Nova's pain and suffering.

Once the cameraman and lighting man returned to their seats, the makeup artist quickly fixed the makeup of all the stars involved in the shot and stepped out of the frame.

Everything was ready. “Action!” Enzo bellowed, and the scene commenced.

At that moment, Claire got into the skin of her character. Enzo's eyes lit up as he looked at the monitor. "She is good! I'm impressed," he whispered to his assistant.

The scene was about Isabel breaking into Nova's room with two friends and finding a love letter from Nova addressed to Michael. Nova quickly rushed to grab the letter from them but to no avail. Isabel opened the letter to humiliate her by reading it in front of everyone.

"You should share good things like this in front of everyone." Claire looked complacent, doing justice to Isabel's character. After delivering the dialogue, she opened the envelope and took out the love letter.

Claire's eyes widened in surprise, for the letter was written in Latin.

She was sure it wasn't a part of the script.

How could the prop assistant make such a ludicrous mistake? Claire couldn't help but wonder if someone was playing tricks on her.

She bit her bottom lip and looked around, and her gaze fell on Sierra. Her mind started racing.

A thousand thoughts flashed in her mind.

She wondered if she should ask the director to stop filming. It seemed like the right thing to do because it was the prop assistant's mistake, not hers.

However, this was her first scene. Claire was determined to ace the scene in one take and surprise the people who doubted her acting skills. She couldn't let anyone defeat her through childish means.

The camera didn't focus on Sierra. She was out of frame. Her face broke into a triumphant smile as she saw the astonishment on Claire's face.
