Love at the Door

Chapter 26

Seeing that someone was picking on Melina, the stall owners nearby stepped forward.

“What’s going on? What are you doing?

“We can talk it out. There’s no need to throw punches.

“If you try to hit them again, we’re calling the cops.”

Seeing more and more people step forward, the men looked at the ruined stall and exchanged glances before saying. “Let’s go.”

After they left, Melina turned back to help Helena up. She was shocked to see Helena pale and short of breath. “Mrs. Henderson, are you alright?”

The lady next door quickly said, “She’s having an attack! Where are her meds?

Helena said with great effort, “My meds ran out.”

The crowd was shocked. They started speaking all at once, panicking.

“In that case, hurry up and call an ambulance!”

“I already called one, but it takes time for them to arrive.”

“W–Will she be okay?”

Seeing how pale Helena’s face was, Melina pursed her lips and walked up to her. Then, she carried Helena on her back and headed out.

Melina looked skinny, while Helena was slightly chubby. Seeing the difference in their physique, the crowd was worried that Melina couldn’t carry her.

A man standing aside immediately asked, “Melina, where are you carrying her to?”

Melina pushed Helena higher up her back and answered, “The road here’s too narrow for the ambulance! I’m carrying her to Oakread’s gates to wait for the ambulance to arrive. It’ll be faster.”

I

*How about I carry her instead? You look so tiny that I’m scared you won’t be able to move her.”

“It’s fine. Thanks for everything today. Please look after the stall for us.” After finishing her sentence, Melina ran out of the supermarket with Helena on her back.

Melina ran really fast. By the time she ran to District 1, she was already sweating heavily.

She was very strong, but Helena was more than 110 pounds. Running while carrying her was extremely draining.

Helena leaned on Melina’s skinny back. Hearing Melina’s heavy breathing, she remained silent. Complicated emotions clashed in her heart.

Suddenly, a familiar car blocked Melina’s path. Melina was going to walk around it, but Andrew stepped out of the car when it stopped.

Seeing Melina covered in sweat, Andrew frowned. Was Melina stupid? C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Now that the person who abused her was in trouble, shouldn’t she take advantage of it? Why was she in such a rush to help her instead?

Andrew was planning on ignoring her, but Toby said that helping a woman when she was in trouble was a surefire way to win her heart. It didn’t matter if he was the one who staged it.

Chame

Andrew said, “Get in the car. I’ll drive you to wherever you want to go.”

Melina’s eyes brightened. “Thank you, mister!”

She quickly carried Helena into the car. “Mrs. Helena’s having an attack. Let’s follow the direction the ambulance will be coming from. Then, we’ll be able to get Mrs. Helena in the ambulance as soon as possible.”

Seeing how eager Melina was, Andrew turned as cold as the air–conditioning in the car. He said languidly.

“I heard you kept getting scolded and abused at your workplace. Now that the person who abuses you is in trouble, why are you in such a rush to help her?” Andrew didn’t hold back in front of Helena at all.

Helena’s face turned paler.

Melina shook her head. “Stop spouting nonsense, Andrew. Mrs. Helena didn’t abuse me. She’s really nice

to me.”

Andrew was going to ridicule her, but he suddenly remembered that Melina once called him a good person. She said that despite being subjected to his bad temper and awful treatment.

What he did was far worse than what Helena did. Just how did Melina judge a person’s character?

Melina’s feelings were warm and sincere. They were so warm that the two other people in the car couldn’t bring themselves to speak
