Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Zane was only Lianne’s boss. Lianne had her husband tending to her needs after the minor car
accident. So what was Zane doing at the hospital?
He then gave Morgan a call. “Fancy coming out for a few drinks?”
Morgan answered, “Sure.”
Zane was in a foul mood tonight.
That was the first thing that hit Morgan when the former saw Zane.
After a few drinks, Morgan uttered, “It’s not like you married your wife out of love, Zane. So, she
cheated. You don’t have to give yourself hell over a cheating woman.”
Zane scoffed. “Why should I get upset over that woman?”
Morgan asked, “Why do you look glum then?”
Zane replied, “I’m not.”
The grimace ran deep on Zane’s facial lines. Who was he kidding?
It was embarrassing to be cheated on, so Morgan did not want to rub salt in his wound.
Morgan changed the subject. “You were in Weston for a little over a month. It’s been a while since I
saw your assistant. Do you want to invite her out for drinks too?”
Zane’s tone turned gruff. “You’re obsessing over a married woman.”
Morgan confidently grinned. “So what if she’s married? I’m sure her husband isn’t as handsome or
wealthy as me. She won’t be able to escape me if I go after her.”
Zane slammed the glass on the table with a loud bang. “She’s my people. Don’t you dare try anything.”
By the looks of the emotional outburst, the alcohol must have gotten to Zane. Morgan teased,” Your
people? What do you mean by that? She’s your assistant, not your wife. What say do you have in the
matter of me pursuing her and her getting on with me?”
Zane had a clear idea that Lianne was simply his assistant and not his wife. It was not his place to
meddle in her personal affairs.
He had no right to stay by her side when she got hurt from saving him in Weston. Lianne had her
husband keeping her company after her car accident. The person who could stick with her through
thick and thin would never be Zane.
Morgan said, “Zane, it doesn’t matter whether she has a husband. Just chase her if you bet no woman
could resist you.”
want her. I
His words awoke the inner demon buried deep within Zane. For a fleeting moment, Zane believed it
was a great idea.
Did he want her, though?
He was at a loss!
Zane was displeased when he saw Lianne acting lovey-dovey with her husband.
Perhaps Zane was envious of Lianne’s husband for having a woman’s full devotion since he had a
cheating wife.
Morgan picked up the phone and secretly snapped a photo of Zane before sending it to Lianne. Ms.
Simpson, your boss’ wife had an affair, and now your boss is close to tears. You better come and take
him home.”
After sending the message, Morgan put his phone away right away and continued drinking as if nothing
had happened.
