Chapter 219
‘Don’t go.”
Sable’s voice was hoarse, his eyes filled with a look of grievance
Stephanie could feel the intense heat from the hand she was holding. She whispered, “I won’t go, just going to boil some water to give you medicine later.
Sable grunted, releasing her hand.
He watched as the girl took off her cashmere coat, revealing her graceful figure as she walked to the table to boil water.
His gaze narrowed, then he closed his eyes contentedly.
Fifteen minutes later, Stephanie took the medicine bag sent by the manager.
She walked to the bedside, rummaging through the bag to find a thermometer, fever reducer, and antibiotics.
She checked her temperature with the thermometer; it showed normal, but when she checked Sable, he was already at 102.2 F.
Turning to get lukewarm water, she handed a fever reducer pill to Sable.
“Taking this will bring down your fever.”
Sable, in a daze, grunted but didn’t respond further.
Stephanie sighed softly, “Sable, wake up; it’s time to take your medicine.”
Sable grunted slightly, cracking open his eyes, “Take medicine.”
Stephanie nodded, “Yes, it’s time. Take the fever reducer first, and then the antibiotics once your fever breaks.”
Frowning, Sable tried to get up but seemed to lack the strength.
Stephanie placed the water and the pill on the bedside table, then bent down to slip her arm around the man’s neck, lifting him.
A faint scent of pear drified to Sable’s nose. He opened his eyes, gazing at the girl’s delicate profile, feeling a subtle: tightening in his throat.
*Stephanie?”
“Yes” Stephanie glanced sideways, wondering if the man had something to say,
Their eyes met at a close distance.
Stephanie blinked nervously; it was the first time she being so close to a man other than Vincent
Her neck subconsciously arched backward, “What’s wrong?”
Sensing the distance, Sable felt somewhat uncomfortable, although he didn’t show it on his face. He simply smiled faintly, Thank you for coming
“No need to thank me. After all, you got injured because of me!
Supporting Sable and swiftly maintaining a distance, Stephanie grabbed a pillow, propping him up against it.
Π
She fetched the water and–medicine, Take it; once you do, your fever will
down.”
Sable grunted, took the medicine from Stephanie’s hand, popped it in his mouth, and then drank from the glass she held. With his eyes lightly gazing at Stephanie, his brown eyes never leaving hers.
As Stephanie looked back at him, he lowered his gaze.
Once the water was finished, Stephanie went to refill in
Sable watched her slender figure, becoming more and more possessive,
Stephanie returned with the water glass, placing it on the bedside table, “This water is a bit warm: let it cool down a bit before drinking. Also, take the antibiotics.”
She lifted the blanket slightly, “Let me see your wound.”
Sable nodded.
Stephanie pulled up a corner of the blanket, rolled up Sable’s pajama leg, and saw the red, sinister–looking wound on his calf. She frowned, ‘I told you not to take a bath, but you did anyway. Now, the wound is infected. Since there’s no disinfectant; I’ll go buy some.
Sable clasped her hand, “No need to go.”
Stephanie suddenly withdrew her hand.
“Sorry, I’m feeling hot, always trying to grab onto something cool. Sable raised his lips slightly. “I’m a little hungry, can you order some takeout for me?”
The restaurant downstairs should have porridge; I can get it for you. As you’re sick, it’s best to eat lightly. Stephanie replied Sable thought for a moment, “You don’t need to go down yourself, just have them send it up. Have you eaten? If not, have some with me.”
Stephanie was about to say she’d eaten, but her stomach chose that moment to growl.
Sable chuckled, “Give them a call, or my stomach might start growling too.
“Alright.” Stephanie called the front desk, explained the situation and requested disinfectant and cotton swabs.
The front desk said they would send it immediately.
In just seven or eight minutes, there was a knock at the door.
A server appeared, holding a tray with vegetable porridge, seafood porridge, and some light dishes, along with a bottle of disinfectant and cotton swabs.
Stephanie thanked them and carried the tray inside. The server leaved and thoughtfully closed the door.
She looked over at Sable, “Can you get up?”
Sable shrugged. I’m a patient. Can you feed me?”
Looking at Sable’s mischievous expression, Stephanie raised an eyebrow, “Should I hire a caretaker for you then?”
Even though Sable wanted Stephanie to feed him, he knew that going too far might make her annoyed.
He threw back the covers and, his towering form swaying slightly, made his way to the table.
27/4
Leaning in to smell, he murmured. “Smells good.”
Π
Stephanie sat down, placing the spoon and disposable chopsticks next to the bowl of vegetable porridge. “This one’s yours
Sable nodded, sitting beside her and eyeing her bowl of seafood porridge with sea cucumber and abalone, “I want yours”
Stephanie scooped a spoonful and tasted it. Eating seafood during this period may cause your wound to inflame and itch. If you don’t want a scar, eat something light.”
Sable obediently finished the vegetable porridge and had some of the side dishes
Stephane, who hadn’t eaten in nearly a day, quickly finished her bowl of porridge.
After clearing everything up, she turned to Sable, I’ll attend to your wound and then I’ll
Sable’s eyes dimmed slightly, nodding “Alright”
Back in bed, he rolled up his pants.
Stephanie skillfully disinfected his wound, “No more water on it The day after tomorrow, I’ll come to take you for a blood test at the hospital
Sable softly agreed, “Thanks for coming to see me.”
Stephanie put away the disinfecthit and cotton swabs, “You’ve saved me several times: I should thank you. Visiting you is the least I can do. Once your fever breaks, take the antibiotics. After tonight, you won’t have a fever anymore.”
Tunderstand.” Sable replied.
Stephanie washed her hands and grabbed her bag. T leaving now. If you need anything, just give me a call.
Sable nodded and replied. “Okay”
Stephanie waved goodbye with a smile and left.
Listening to the door close, Sable’s smile gradually froze, then disappeared.
He had just seen Stephanie’s love bite hidden beneath her turtleneck sweater. This made him uncomfortable.
With his tongue against his molars, he reached up and swept the medicine box, pills, and water glass onto the floor, instantly shattering the glass.
As the pills were about to dissolve in the water, he remembered they were given to him by Stephanie.
Quickly getting off the bed, he squatted down to pick them up, shards of sharp glass cutting his slender, fair fingers, crimson blood dripping onto the white pills.
Putting the blood–stained pill in his mouth, bitterness gradually spread throughout his entire mouth.
Glancing at his bleeding joints, Sable had no expression. He let the blood drop onto the floor, as if releasing his overwhelming emotions.
He must win Stephanie’s heart!
Unaware that she had become someone else’s prey, Stephanie got into her car and sent a message to Vincent All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
[Are you busy?
Without receiving a reply from Vincem, Stephanie decided to surprise him.
So, she drove directly to the Fletcher Group.
Parking in the basement, she took the CEO’s private elevator up.
After stepping out of the elevator, she was met with a group of secretaries from the secretary department, all with serious expressions.
Stephanie raised an eyebrow, feeling something was wrong, as they had always been very welcoming to her before.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
The head secretary nodded. “Mr. Fletcher is in his office, but he’s not alone.”
