Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 475

She replied softly, "Oh, nothing much, I'm just about to meet Mateo, and I'm really excited."

From this moment on, Everett was out of her life. Xiao Lang would just be another face in the crowd. She had finally put an end to this marriage, where she had given everything only to end up hurt and broken. Callum chuckled, "You'll be happy from now on."

Everett woke up three days later. He was fortunate; the car's safety features were top-of-the-line, with airbags that cushioned him during the crash.

His external injuries were severe, but his internal organs were mostly okay. The real danger came from his previous heart surgery and the massive blood loss during the accident, making his condition critical when he arrived at the hospital.

The surgery needed a lot of blood, but the accident had injured so many people that there was a shortage. Even though Alex pulled every string she could to get more blood, it was like trying to put out a raging fire with a garden hose. Luckily, it seemed Everett was blessed by some divine luck.

An anonymous woman rushed to the hospital, determined to donate blood for him, even risking her own health to make sure they had enough for the surgery!

Alex was almost moved to tears, thankful beyond words. She wanted to thank the woman properly and even offer her some money to recover, but by the time she was free, the woman had already gone. So, she had to set it aside for now.

Alex stood by the bedside, watching as her boss finally opened his eyes. She was nearly overwhelmed with relief-her mortgage, car loan, living expenses, and retirement savings were safe!

With tears blurring her eyes, Alex looked at his pale, weak face and spoke gently, "Mr. Everett, how are you feeling? Please don't move too much. You've got a concussion and fractures all over. You need to rest!"

As she spoke, she carefully dabbed his dry lips with a water-soaked cotton swab.

Everett swallowed slowly, his voice raw and hoarse, "Where's my wife?"

He expected Selena to be the first person he saw when he woke up, not his secretary!

Alex froze, unsure of how to tell him. She looked away, her words stuck in her throat. Everett closed his eyes and opened them again, now filled with anger. "Tell me!" Reluctantly, Alex shook her head, unable to voice the truth.

Even though he had suspected it, heart ached with the

Was Selena's hatred for him that deep?

Alex wished she could say otherwise, but reality was unforgiving. Her voice was soft, "Yes."

The veins on Everett's hand stood out, a testament to his inner turmoil.

It took him a moment to clear his mind, to finally ask, "Did she leave any message? Even just a word?" This time, Alex nodded.

"Before she boarded the plane, your wife had a package delivered here for you. I haven't opened it yet."novelbin

Everett took a shallow breath, a flicker of hope in his eyes. "Open it."

Alex retrieved the package from the bedside drawer, tore it open, and found a report inside.

As she glanced at it, her face went pale with shock.

Sensing the shift, Everett's gaze turned sharp. "What is it? Tell me!"
