Chapter 61 Shut Them Up With Capabilities
Chapter 61 Shut Them Up With Capabilities
The most effective way to have someone concede is to shut them up with one’s capabilities.
A perfumer of the Powell Group was renowned in the perfume industry. Each one of them was well respected in Sliwell City.
They had examined Diana’s perfume and although it was still incomplete at that time, they were all astonished by the quality of the perfume. The reasons why they accepted Diana’s challenge were some of them wanted to see her skills of concocting the perfume while others were simply envious of her.
Today, Diana simply put on light makeup and focused on the task at hand. Those who saw her were surprised as she was unlike her usual self.
Diana had several vials of fragrance concentrates. She did not mind that the opponent used completed products for the challenge. She knew that she could do a new mix on the spot.
Numerous people gathered at the door to witness the challenge by the lady who caused so many rumors about her abilities. Some were there for the drama while others were there to see her true abilities.
“Ms. Miller.” The Assistant supervisor of the Perfume department Ms. Finger hastily placed her perfume on the table and challenged, “How do you intend to compete? If you dare to mix the perfume on the spot, then I’ll do the same and we’ll compare the results!”
Diana smiled and then gestured, “Please.”
The organizers of the competition started to take out the fragrance concentrates from storage and placed a widespread of them in front of her.
Diana was not flustered and confidently presented the list of concentrates that she required to the staff. They were stunned to see that all she required were seven concentrates! In the process of concocting the perfume, the more ingredients one uses the more complex and chances for error there would be.
Stella had about a hundred-odd fragrance concentrates placed in front of her while Ms. Miller only required seven! When the staff brought over the fragrance concentrates that Diana required, the other onlookers were shocked and started to mumble.
“What is Anna doing? She only asked for seven concentrates while Stella has that huge spread!”
“Does she intend to throw the challenge?”
Diana appeared to disregard the doubts and comments and simply grinned confidently. All she needed were these seven fragrance concentrates.
Stella looked momentarily at Diana and paused when she saw Diana grinning.
How can that woman be smiling at this moment? What kind of perfume can she concoct with just seven fragrance concentrates? She definitely could not come up with one that was as fragrant as Stella could.
Stella started to mix the concentrates. She had intended to reserve this recipe for the Sliwell City Perfume competition and it was a pity that she decided to use it for this challenge. But if she could win over this woman once and for all, then she would become the top perfumer of the Powell Group.
Then, before Stella knew it, Diana started to tidy up the apparatus in front of her.
“Is Anna done?”
“But it was hardly half an hour!”
“It shouldn’t take long since she only had so few concentrates to use.”
“That makes sense.”
Stella became flustered and frustrated when she heard the comments. She raised her head and looked directly into Diana’s calm eyes. She could not detect any emotions from Diana’s expression.
There was a container with a clear liquid in front of Diana. It was the perfume that she had just mixed and it was purplish. Diana’s calm appearance made her feel flustered and unsettled. Stella took another half an hour to complete her perfume.
When Diana noticed that Stella was done, she calmly said to Stella, “Shall we?”
Both of them presented their perfume mix to the perfumers who declined the challenge. There were three of them who declined the challenge and became the judges of the competition.
The three of them were well aware of Stella’s abilities and when they had a whiff of her perfume mix, all of them expressed content and satisfaction with the scent.
Stella was the student of Ashley and naturally inherited Ashely’s techniques. The quality of the perfume that she had mixed for this challenge far surpassed her previous products.
“Refined initial scent, lingering immersive scent, and captivating after taste. If Stella’s perfume were to be launched for the next season, it is bound to become a bit hit. Stella, when did your skill become close to Ashley’s level? Perhaps you’ll attain the title of the master perfumer of Sliwell City this time!”
Stella pretended to be coy and smiled, “I’m not so skillful, don’t flatter me!”
The perfume that Stella had just mixed was fragrant and captivating. The lingering fragrance drifted towards the onlookers at the entrance and some started to comment, “Wow, it’s Stella after all. Ashley must have done a good job teaching her. That Anna is bound to lose now.”
Stella started to grin when she heard this comment. She had spent half a year perfecting this perfume. How could she lose to Anna?
Diana was not flustered and also agreed that Stella’s perfume was good. The initial scent was indeed captivating and the lingering scent was a known favorite among ladies with a mixture of fruity and lily scents. However, the after-taste was slightly flawed.
Diana presented her mixture to the judges. The judges exchanged looks as the bottle was nondescript and very ordinary. Although the most important part of the perfume was its scent, a good presentation was important as it would leave a good impression on the judges. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
The judges were stunned as soon as they opened the bottle. All the onlookers were dumbfounded to see the judges silent and still.
After a moment, one of the judges spoke slowly, “Ms. Miller, I would like to know if you came up with this mix on the spot?”
“Of course!” Diana replied, “If so many perfumers want to compete with me, then how many recipes do I need to come up with?” Diana grinned. She looked at the judges and then asked, “What’s the results?”
“Ms. Miller is the winner.”
“What?” Stella was stunned and pointed to the judges and asked, “You didn’t even make any comments and declared Anna as the winner! Did she pay you off?”
The judge handed Diana’s perfume to Stella and said, “Stella, have a try.”
Stella glared at her and then reluctantly took over the bottle of perfume. As she opened it, there was a refreshing and pure fragrance like a natural meadow. It enveloped the person and her senses. It was
both fragrant and comforting. It made the user grin as if it reminded her of an unforgettable passion.
Stella gripped the bottle tightly and were stunned. Even her instructor Ashley could not match Anna’s skill level. The lady before her came up with such a captivating scent with simply seven fragrance concentrates!
