Nine
Nine
The following day.
In the silent ward, the petite frame of the young woman, was lying motionless on the hospital bed
dressed in a blue hospital gown. The white blanket covered her body, stopping a little near the chest
region.
The figure on the bed, stirred after a long time of lying still in one position.
She opened her eyes and turned her body to the window.
After a while, tears suddenly began to roll down her rosy cheeks. She could still remember all that has
happened.
' Now what?' She was now a divorced woman, who miscarried her baby. People would start rumoring
her to be a barren woman, who lost her marriage.
Where would she start from? She couldn't possibly still leave in this city, right?
She had no one else to go to. She isn't the type to make friends. Because she believed that, if she
should want to make one, it will not be a genuine one, since people who mingle with the rich only do so
because they want to benefit from the friendship in one way or the other. They are hypocrite, greedy,
jealous and a long list of stuffs she never wanted. It was hard to find a genuine friend these days.
She doesn't have a relative, who liked her genuinely, except for her father, who was not even here. She
had thought her husband would become her true friend and relative. She had thought that after she
gives birth, she would then, have her husband and children and would never be alone in this world.
However, reality hit her hard, so hard that she is finding it hard to bear.
She had built her life around her family, and marriage. And now she was divorced by him and betrayed
by her step- family.
If the news gets out about her divorce, and reasons he had gave for it, she won't be able to move or
work as she used to. She would be mocked, and insulted. How would she bear the shame and
humiliation? Where would she find the courage to live?
The tears gushed out of her eyes, wetting the sheets.
As she was in thought and crying, she heard the door being pushed opened. She slightly turned
towards the door, in attempt to see who it was.
A tall, pale-skinned woman walked on heels walked in. She was wearing a sleeveless red, knee length
gown. Her short brown hair was let down. The aura she emitted, shouted power and ruthlessness.
Though beautiful, her face and presence, was fierce and intimidating. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
On seeing this woman, Amelia's face darkened and her eyes turned cold. She now hated this people to
hell.
The woman stood beside the bed, looking down at her condescendingly.
" What are you doing here?" She was in no mood to even exchange pleasantries with this woman.
" I heard you have finally signed the papers, Amelia." The woman started.
Amelia clenched her fists under the sheets. " What are you doing here, Laura Pearls.?"
" That's not a good way to call your mother, you know" she smirked.
" You are not my mother and can never be!" Amelia growled.
" I am grateful i am not anyways. So you are pregnant, right? Do you exactly think your pregnancy
would have made him change his mind?" She chuckled, " oh, pathetic"
" Your daughter have succeeded in snatching my husband, are you happy?"
" Mind you, he is no longer your husband, remember? Besides, Ethan was never yours, Amelia. He
was meant for a woman like my daughter"
" Do you not have shame? Your daughter snatched another woman's husband and you are happy
about it. You are not worthy of being called a mother! You are a shame to motherhood. I pity her for
having a mother like you, who will surely lead her astray. Go and hide your face in shame, Laura"
" I don't care what you say, darling. You have quite a sharp tougue, just like your mother. I would take it
that you are just trying to vent out your frustrations"
" Oh i forgot. Madison Puff was born from a lineage of snatchers and thiefs. The things you have right
now, are not actually yours. From the husband to the wealth, fortune and power"
" Watch your words, Amelia!" She ordered in a high pitched voice.
Amelia knew she had touch the soft spot. She smiled triumphantly. " Oops, i touched the spot, right?
The truth, they say is very bitter and it hurts, don't you think?"
Laura was so angry but she needed to keep her cool. She has already been defeated anyway.
" I got no time for you. By the way, i came here to give you your things at Ethan's place. The driver
would be bringing it up now"
As she finished talking, a man, average in height and looks walked into the ward, drawing two large
luggages.
He left the luggage beside the bed and slightly bent his head, before walking out.
" Since you are no longer married to him, there should be no need to still have your stuffs in his house.
So i thought i could help you bring it over. Am i not thoughtful?"
" Yes you are very thoughtful, step mother"
" So where are you going to stay from now on? You have nothing left in this city anymore. So I would
advice you to just leave"
" Seems that is actually a good idea, i would do that. Now you have to get going, you have overstayed
your welcome. I want to rest"
" Anyways, i was going to tell you that, you can always come to me when you need money. I could
always be of help"
" I don't need your money! I would rather borrow or beg for money on the street than come to you for
money.
" So stubborn. Just like your mother. I know you are just trying to act tough. Where are you expecting to
see the money you would use to leave this city and restart?"
" It's not your business!"
" Are you putting hope on Ethan's money? You refused his settlement. And I would also like to inform
you that you no longer have access to his bank. He already stopped the bank from giving you any
money. And you aren't possibly hoping to get from your father, right? He already traveled. So you got
only my help"
" And i don't need it. Leave please. I want to rest"
Laura eyed her for a while, before turning her heels to leave the room.
Amelia gazed at the two luggages beside her bed and sighed. She really was thankful to her
stepmother for bringing the luggages over.
She didn't want to step into that house, least she gets more emotional and reluctant to go, thereby
embarrassing herself. And to add to it, she presumed that Ethan must have brought her step-sister into
the house already. She didn't want to set eyes on them.
Now, she has to relax and heal first. Before properly planning how she would live her life from then on.
She already knew, that she has to go. Go far away from here. But to where?
