Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Jenny and Kristin had seen enough. They were getting ready to drive away.
Kristin said, “How long do you plan to make her do this for?”
Jenny said casually, “Until I go to bed tonight I suppose. I’ll call their director and say that if they really can’t find the ring, then forget about it. I’ll just consider it my misfortune.”
“Wow, you’re really letting her off easy,” said Kristin, “If Zeke could see the way she looked now, he would probably throw up. She’s not worthy of a man like Zeke Shaw, unlike you.”
Jenny had just started the red Maserati when several police cars suddenly drove past them. In no time, the Maserati was surrounded by police cars.
A police officer got out and knocked on the Maserati’s window.
Jenny quickly brought down the car window. The police said, “We received a report that a ring worth more than $10,000 was lost here. We will be launching an investigation into this matter to see if the ring was lost or if it was stolen.”
“An investigation?” Jenny and Kristin were flabbergasted.
“But we didn’t call the police!” Kristin shouted.
He ignored their protests, “Losing a ring worth more than $10,000 can already be considered a major case. We hope you two will cooperate with us. We just want to help you find the ring.”
But the problem was… there’s no ring! The two women exchanged glances. Jenny gritted her teeth and said, “I don’t want to pursue this matter anymore. Even if the ring can’t be found, it’s fine.”
“If this is theft, then the amount has reached the threshold to file this as a criminal case. A case file has to be opened for the investigation. Please also get out of the car and show exactly where you noticed that the ring had gone missing,” the officer
insisted.
Jenny and Kristin got down from the warm car into the cold wind and walked to the spot where they were talking to Serenity earlier. Only now, there was trash everywhere.
Much of the trash was originally in the trash cans but had now been dumped out of them during the search for the ring.
The strong smell of garbage wafted over. Jenny and Kristin were both in expensive clothes. They really stood out amidst the piles of garbage. However, the officer refused to let them go and insisted that they recount to him what happened.
When they finally finished telling the story and thought they could leave, the officer said, “Since they’re already looking for the ring, the two of you please wait here. Once they find it, you can immediately confirm if it’s your ring.”
“Wait here?” Kristin exclaimed.
“That’s right.”
“But it’s so dirty and smelly here…”
Suddenly, they heard a startled voice. “Oh my god, isn’t that Jenny Hall?! I actually ran into a celebrity!”
Upon hearing that, a number of people started gathering around.
“Why is she standing in the midst of all that garbage?”
“That’s a cop next to her, right? Is she filming?”
The crowd started talking.
“I don’t think I should be here. I’ll let my assistant and lawyer handle the rest,” said Jenny. She wanted to hurry up and leave the place. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Miss Hall, I know you’re a celebrity, but right now, the sanitation workers are working hard to find your ring for you. Is it that hard to just stand here and wait? Or do you think you’re superior to them?” he asked righteously.
