One More Chance

Chapter 149: The dinner

~~~When I think back on these times and the dreams we left behind, I'll be glad 'cause I was blessed to get to have you in my life. When I look back on these days, I look and see your face. You were right there for me. In my dreams, I'll always see you soar above the sky,
In my heart, there'll always be a place for you for all my life~~~
"Whoa! Mr. gorgeous is here!" Martha ran to the office, squealing.
"Hey, what's going on with you?" I asked, laughing as she nearly tripped over the center table.
"Your boyfriend is here!" She squealed again, her grin almost reaching up to her ears.
"What? But I have no boyfriend." I shrugged, even though I already have an idea of what she was talking about or should I say who she was talking about.
"Fine, your soon-to-be boyfriend is here," she pouted and I laughed again. "And he's waiting for you outside,"
I checked the time on my wristwatch and frowned when I saw that it was only 6:30 pm.
"It's still early," I muttered more to myself.
"Hmm... of course, he's making an effort, so it doesn't bother him even if he waits for you for 30 minutes." She grinned and I just rolled my eyes. "I'm going back to the counter," she winked at me.
"Ahh... so that's just your purpose why you ran here!" I concluded but I just got a wink before she finally went out of my sight.
I leaned back against my seat, closing my eyes for a while. I didn't notice the time. The last time I checked my wristwatch was before I walked into the office and it was only five in the afternoon and now it's already six-thirty. I suddenly felt tired so I took a deep breath and was about to go back to reading the reports on the computer when I felt a hand on my shoulders. I gasped and probably would have screamed if I hadn't smelled the familiar scent at that time.
"What are you doing here?" I asked and was about to get up but he held me still and began to massage my shoulders.
"Why? Am I not allowed to enter your office? I'm going out now---"
"I didn't say that! I just asked what you were doing here." And since I closed my eyes when he started moving his fingers on both my shoulders, I missed the grin that appeared on the corner of his lips. "Alright," he answered shortly.
"It's only 6:30, you're 30 minutes early,"
"I know. I just want to make sure you won't get tired and walk when you go home,"
I couldn't help but smile at what he replied.
"How did you get through the door without making any noise?"
"I walked on tiptoe,"
"What?" I immediately opened my eyes and frowned at him. "You're lying,"
"Nah, I was just kidding, maybe you're just distracted so you didn't notice I walked in the door," he smiled.
"So, how did the meeting go earlier?" I asked the moment he stopped and pulled the chair next to me, so he was now sitting in front of me.
"Hmm... it went well, it's just that, I couldn't focus on the meeting earlier. I mean, I tried to but I couldn't." He said a little disappointed and even shook his head so I really believed it was true. "But why?"
"Because my mind kept thinking about you."
My breath caught in my throat for a few seconds when he laughed.
"Tss! Those words don't suit you, Mr. Williams!" The only words I had said and rolled my eyes.
"But it's true," he kept laughing.
I stood up, smiling and putting my phone inside my bag.
"Where are you going?" He was suddenly alarmed, stood up, and took my arm.
I stopped what I was doing and pretended to be surprised at his question and action at the same time.
"Oh, I thought you said we're going to have dinner... at your place?" I even emphasized the last three words. "Don't tell me you've already changed your mind---"
"No, of course not!" His eyes widened as he got up. "I would never change my mind again."
I looked at him, raising an eyebrow but didn't say anything.novelbin
I was about to open the door when he called my attention. "Sam,"
Confused, I stopped and turned to him with a frown.
"Yes?"
"Thanks,"
"For what?"
"For agreeing to have dinner with me," he took a step closer. "For letting me do these things and for this..." He slowly took my hand and intertwined it with his. "Honestly, I don't know why I'm letting you do this..." I motioned to our intertwined hands and smiled. "But I like it," I winked at him which brought his smile to his ears. "And I will never let this go again,"
I didn't say anything. I just held my breath and walked out of the office with my hand in his.
*********
"What are you preparing for dinner?"
I asked as I put my chin over my elbow that was resting on top of the kitchen table. I've already changed into a casual dress and watched him move around the kitchen counter as he prepared for our dinner. "Hmm... something you would like to eat with me again in the future," he replied with a wink and I couldn't help but giggle.
"Really, huh?"
"Yup," he then turned around and faced the stove.
As I watched him doing wonders in that small kitchen, my imagination started to kick in my head and my eyes wandered all over his body. He still has broad shoulders, a sexy S back, and a perfect ass that hasn't changed even after the years. The muscles in his biceps and shoulders were moving as he moved as well as his behind as he stirred the spatula on the kettle.
I bit my lower lip to stifle the mischievous grin that appeared on it. I suddenly realized how maturity added more to his handsome face. It suits him and even added to his oozing sex appeal that hadn't changed even after how many years.
A few seconds later, I just found
myself heaving a harsh breath as my mind drifted back to the time
when he moved my things to his et
room and we shared a bed... his bed. Those touches, caresses, kisses,
and grunts we made as we unite our bodies...
But then...
-'Oh, God!'-
I yelled in my head as I felt the sudden excitement surge to the pit of my stomach.
-'Why the hell am I thinking about such things? mentally slapped myself and took the glass of wine and sipped to shake off the wild images in my head as well as the
I
unwanted thoughts which I don't know why they suddenly came into me at that moment.
But as I closed my eyes, it just became worse.
-What the hell is happening with me? Seriously? Of all the things to remember, really the sex---'
"Hey, you might break the glass, sweetheart,"
"Huh?" My eyes snapped open when I heard his voice in front of me.
He slowly took the glass out of my hand with worry swirling in his eyes. "Are you okay? Is your head aching?" He asked as he took my hand.
-'Oh, hell!'- I mumbled in silence when I felt the warmth of his palm.
"Y-Yeah..." I avoided his gaze and immediately took back the glass of wine. "I was just thinking about the sales report today." I lied and sipped the last content.
"Don't stress yourself about it, Martha is there and I know she can handle it, besides, I'm done cooking!" He has a huge grin on his face, unaware of the thoughts I have in my head.
