Chapter 153: The Broken Vase
~~~You're the reason I believe in love and you're the answer to my prayers from up above. All we need is just the two of us. From this moment, life has begun. From this moment, you are the one. Right beside you is where I belong, from this moment on. From this moment, I have been blessed. I live only for your happiness and for your love, I'd give my last breath from this moment on.~~~ -From This Moment On (Shania Twain)-
"Oh, no!" I uttered in shock as I stared at him.
"Who is that?" Luke asked as he glanced at the round wall clock in the living room. "It's almost midnight!" He added, boredom and disappointment were clearly heard in his voice before sinking his head into the crook of my neck. "Samantha, open the door! Are you okay, girl?"
"It's Hailey, my neighbor, I mean, our neighbor. She's occupying the room to my left."
"Sam, oh, my God!"
"Don't get up, just ignore her!" He whispered as he began to pepper small kisses behind my ear.
"Luke, I have to get up and talk to her... "I paused as I bit my lower lip to swallow back the moan that wanted to escape my throat. "Or else she's going to call the Landlord,"
I waited for him to answer and when I heard him sigh, a grin curled up against my lips.
"Sam, are you there?"
I can hear the frustration in her voice, so I had to urge Luke to get up.
"Come on, Luke, I have to talk to her."
"Haist! Fine!" He stood up, looking at the door.
"Wait, wait, she can't see you here!" My eyes suddenly went wide when I remembered what Hailey said a few days ago. She has a crush on our new neighbor. "What? But why?" He asked me, confused.
"Uhm... I'll just explain it to you later, but for now you have to hide because I swear, she can't see you here!"
I started to panic as I think of where I could hide him until...
"Come here!" I took his hand and immediately dragged him to my room. "What?" I asked when I saw the grin on his lips.
"Are you sure you want me to stay here while you're talking to your friend?"
"Yes and not just here, but here!" I pushed him towards the mini walk-in closet.
"Sweetheart?" His eyes widened and I did my best to suppress my laughter as he looked at me with horrified eyes.
"Please, just for tonight." I even begged him with puppy eyes.
"Alright, but what do I get in return?"
"I promise to cook you dinner tomorrow,"
"Huh? D- Dinner?" His eyes as well as his voice were filled with dismay.
But then an idea sparked in my head.
"Yes, I promise to cook you dinner for a week," and to stop him from babbling, I gave him a lingering kiss on the lips.
"Ohh..." The only reaction I got from him before deciding to close the closet and walked out of the room.
I breathed a sigh of relief the moment I closed the door to my room. Hailey was still calling outside when I opened the door.
"What the heck had happened in there? Are you okay?" She immediately peered at me from head to toe with concern in her eyes. "I heard something smashed on the floor!"
And she didn't wait for me to open my mouth as she ran into the living room.
"Oh, my God!" She uttered in shock.
"I was in a hurry and I didn't notice the vase earlier so... " but then I stopped when her expression suddenly changed.
"Oh, my... girl!" She exclaimed and I gulped when I realized where she was looking.
To the necktie... Luke's necktie.
-'Holy cow!'- I screamed in my head.
"So, where is he?" She then asked while grinning at me.
"What?" I closed the door behind me and walked over to her. "What do you mean?"
"Uhuh... what do you mean your face, girl!" She chuckled at me. "What is the meaning of this? This is a man's necktie and based on the smell, I'm sure the owner of this is a kinda rich!"
"What are you talking about? That's
my friend's necktie and yes, he's rich!" I gulped, trying to smile as casually walked in front of her and started picking up the large pieces of the broken vase.
"Tss! Come on, Sam," she rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, I'll keep quiet when you introduced him to me."
"Haist! Hailey, I don't know what you're talking about. I told you, I accidentally tripped over the vase earlier."
"Hmm... well, let me guess?" I slowly glanced at her "You two were kissing before entering the door and since you were too consumed with pleasure, you both didn't notice the vase
on the side and boom!" She exclaimed with hand gestures. "One of you accidentally kicked the poor vase and that's the result!"
-'For goodness sake, is she a fortune teller?'- I asked in my head as I stared at her in disbelief.
"You know what, I think that's the result of watching too many dramas on TV. Now you're creating a movie and a TV series in your head."
"Oh, girl, come on, don't change the subject. So where is he? Is he in your room? Don't worry, I won't judge you." She winked at me.
"I'm not changing the subject," I chuckled not at her but at myself. I couldn't help but laugh at myself because what she was saying was true.
And then she noticed my dress.
"Wow... lady in red!" She smirked.
"What's wrong with wearing a red dress? Jeez, Hailey, don't you have work or something to do because still have And you know what, I think you should leave now since you don't want to believe me no matter what I say, besides, I still have to clean up this mess."
But she's one of the most persistent slash stubborn women I have ever met aside from Jack and Dana... which I don't understand why am I always with stubborn people. "Hmm... come on, Sam, you know I'm not a judgemental person."
"I know," I replied, rolling my eyes.novelbin
"Then why don't you tell me who he is and where he is right now?"
"Argh! How many times do I have to tell you that he's not here--- Hailey!" My eyes went wide when she suddenly got up from her seat and started to walk towards my room. "Where are you going?" I instantly got to my feet and ran after her.
"I'm going to check your bedroom," she shrugged.
I gulped as I began to panic inside, so to stop her, I screamed...
"Fine!"
That made her turn around raising an eyebrow.
"Hmm?"
"I'm dating!"
