Chapter 36
Gerald invited Sabrina to eat at a unique Rietian Restaurant on Sunday.
As soon as she entered, Gerald waited for her while holding a big bouquet of Sweetheart Roses.
"Thank you."
Sabrina took the flowers and smiled at Gerald.
"Are you going to buy me flowers whenever you see me?"
"Yes, standing on ceremony is a must. After all, I'm going to be your official boyfriend."
Gerald smiled while maintaining a distance from Sabrina. Seeing him being so cautious made Sabrina feel bad for him.
"We can hold hands after a few more days."
Sabrina thought she could hold hands with Gerald after the divorce certificate was ready. Hearing this, Gerald couldn't help but stroke Sabrina's face.
"That's so kind of you."
They arrived at the private room and found the dishes were already served. Gerald couldn't take his eyes off Sabrina as she ate. He gazed at her while supporting his chin with his hand.
"Aren't you going to eat?"
"I fear you might run away. I can't believe this is real."
Gerald couldn't believe Sabrina would want to start a relationship with him.
"Sabrina, why do you believe in me?"
"Do you mean believing that you are really into me?"
Gerald nodded.
"Yes. I asked if you believed me, and you said you believed me without any hesitation. If it were my dad, he would have doubted me."
Sabrina put down the fork and looked at him thoughtfully. Gerald was quite handsome. Otherwise, he wouldn't be the town's sought-after playboy.
"Gerald, you used to look like a delinquent when you dyed your hair. Back then, you were always goofing off here and there whenever I ran into you. But you had your natural hair color and appeared less of a troublemaker when we watched the seagulls together."
He looked more dignified than before. He looked stylish, wearing a white T-shirt under a brown casual suit.
"You believe in me just because I have my natural hair?"
Sabrina nodded.
"Yes, everything starts from the hair."
"Aren't you afraid that this is just my trick to deceive women? After all, I have had many girlfriends in the past."
Gerald wanted Sabrina to think carefully as he spoke. After all, he had a dark past.
"The way you were cautious with me is very similar to how I behave when I like someone," Sabrina said frankly.
Gerald didn't dare to hold her hand.
He gently patted the back of her hand instead and said, "In that case, I won't let you down because you believe in me. I'll make myself worthy of you."
…
Nelson wasn't ready to return to Tucker Group because the company was under renovation. He had been extremely busy with business developments and had been staying at a hotel.
Occasionally, when he was free, he would check his phone to see if there was any call or message from Sabrina.
She wasn't like this before. When he was in a city with a different time zone, she would check the weather and remind him to bring an umbrella if it rained or dress warmly if it was cold.
Now, she didn't even bother to call and ask him about the divorce.
When Dylan carried a stack of documents and walked past Nelson, he saw him looking at his WhatsApp conversation with Sabrina.
He didn't know what Nelson was thinking, so he said, "Mrs. Tucker and Mr. Ingram became very close recently. They met once when she collected the brooch and yesterday, too. That's twice in a week." NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Nelson was about to arrange a time with Sabrina to finalize the divorce when he was interrupted by Dylan. He put his phone away for the time being.
Nelson needed to attend a business dinner at night. He encountered Gerald's father, Matthew, at the dinner.
He was walking energetically, appearing to be over the moon.
Upon inquiring, Nelson discovered that Gerald had started from the bottom at a company and was very dedicated to it.
"He met the right woman and wants to marry her. He wanted to have a career to be worthy of her."
Nelson felt uneasy when he heard this. After giving it a second thought, he quickly dismissed the feeling.
He knew he'd made the mistake of sleeping with Sabrina when he was drugged. He planned to tell the woman he was looking for, hoping she would forgive him. He felt it was for the best that he wasn't involved with Sabrina.
Nelson smiled.
"You had always hoped for Gerald to be mature, and now you got what you wished for. Is he with you tonight?"
"He's outside calling his girlfriend. Nelson, you are the oldest among all of them and the most successful one. He listens to you. I'm afraid he won't last long, so please keep an eye on him for me."
Nelson agreed with a smile.
After socializing for a while, he saw from the floor-to-ceiling window that Gerald was on a video call while sitting on the steps outside. He didn't know what the conversation was about, which made Gerald grin from ear to ear.
Nelson stood at the window and caught a glimpse of the person in the video. Although it was blurry, that person looked captivating. He turned to leave but ultimately stood behind Gerald.
Sabrina's voice sounded pleasant. She was gentle and spoke patiently to Gerald.
"Don't rush into business first. You haven't fully understood the product and business lines. You have to be a professional first…"
"You're right. I must strive for excellence in my work and what else?" Gerald asked again.
He didn't notice the person behind him at all.
Meanwhile, Sabrina was leaning over the table, seemingly writing something. When she looked up, she saw someone staring at her coldly. She was taken aback. She parted her lips but didn't know what to say.
