Chapter 51
~JUNO’S POV~
I’ve been trying to hide my discomfort, but it appears that Rex can see right through me. It’s as though I’m powerless to conceal anything from him. Is he aware of my intentions to exploit his brother to gain access to my family? Will he ever forgive me if I do something like that, given Zeus’s desire for me as his mate? Certainties include the fact that they will never be able to share me. Additionally, I discovered that while twins can share a mate, Rex and Zeus cannot share me. Zeus has a mate, and I am well familiar with his mate, but who is his mate? I despise the fact that I can see only a few details, but not all the whole revelations. Informing him about his mate would be pointless since he continues to assume I am his mate. While Zeus may appear to be a tough guy, he is actually softer than Rex and never takes anything seriously, but when it comes to me, well, that’s another story. I sense an attraction to him, but not a mate attraction. It is unique. After that, there’s Alex. The mystery of why I ever thought Alex was my mate must be solved. That was a monumental error, but it was not deliberate. And, once again, why am I unable to recall who murdered me centuries ago? Whom should I approach? My thoughts are all over the place because I suddenly have access to a wide range of knowledge that I have no idea how to use. Since my birth, neither I nor my twin brother has shifted. But why is that, even if Hugo and I are twins, we are two different breeds? similar to Rex and Zeus. Rex is far more than Zeus. My twin brother and I, on the other hand, are unique. He is a tribrid, whereas I am more, or rather, I am me. Do I need to keep anything from my Rex? What if he already knew what I was thinking? I don’t want to muck things up with Rex. He genuinely cares about me. He actually cares about me and would go to great lengths to make me feel better, even at my lowest. I hate to confess it, but I adore him despite the fact that he is not Alex. Rex is vicious, but he is also the sweetest person imaginable. Rather than concealing information from him, perhaps I should tell him. Perhaps he is already aware that I am recalling and also what I am recalling. Perhaps telling Rex would be preferable to, asking for assistance from Zeus, given that the two brothers are cat and rat. I drew my glance toward him, but he appeared to be lost in meditation. Should I try to figure out what he’s thinking? I scoff at this notion. No one can enter Rex’s head unless he permits it. When he left his thoughts floating around, I noticed that he wanted to check if I was getting my Lycan powers back. Why does this man have to be so unbelievably handsome?
“Rex,” I called out to him. He jolted slightly.
“Mmm, sorry, my love, my thoughts are all over the place.
Are you finished?” I gave a nod. He dragged me out of the tub and wrapped me in a towel. He positioned me in front of the mirror and proceeded to dry my body and hair. He began assisting me with blow drying my hair. I decided to inquire as he was combing my hair.
“Will you be able to identify Zeus when you see him at the ball?” I took notice of how he paused and gazed at me through the reflection in the mirror.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
“So that’s what I’ve been thinking about, too. He has been seeking a chance to approach me, and he will not let this one pass. He has no idea where I am, so the ball at the palace should be his one and only chance. It will take a few hours or even a day for me to notice him. Since Zeus is clumsy, he will be easily identifiable, even if he is wearing a body that is not his.”
I’m wondering if you think I’ll be able to recognize my brother if I run into him.
“No you won’t, but he will recognize you.” Well, this is new. That I am having this conversation with Rex is a blessing in disguise.
“Can you tell me how you know that?”
“He is, in fact, a tribrid. Vampires have the ability to recognize when someone is a member of their family; they can even smell family blood from afar.”
“Do you also know he hasn’t shifted?”
“I know. I was just wondering how he has been leading a pack without shifting, though he has a wolf. Come on, let’s go welcome our guest. ”
Rex and I made our way outdoors to begin introducing ourselves to everyone. So far, only one pack has arrived. I’m not sure what the name of the pack is, but Marcus has already shown them their rooms. The palace is enormous and can easily house a large number of people. I am now concerned that I will be forced to confront my past. To be more specific, Alex. Will my mum and father be allowed to attend, or have they been expelled? How have things been going for them? I miss them terribly but have not visited them since I was banned and warned not to enter the pack. I drew my gaze closer to Rex. I could tell that the man was frustrated. My hand is aching from simply waving to everyone. It’s fortunate that the maids and Greta are on the job. I’m still exhausted and a little sore from, well, you know what I’m talking about. I snuck my other hand into Rex’s. I saw a change in his demeanor from irritated to amused.
“Do you still want more of me, Reina?” I attempted to take my hand off him, but he pressed it down. I quickly moved my focus to the next pack that had arrived. A tall gentleman descends. He appears to be depressed, and he screams danger. He has an aura about him. He carries himself in such a commanding manner. I am aware that he is a wolf, but he appears to be different. Even though it is 10 p. m., it is easy to see in the palace’s dazzling light. He is very stunning. That is an exaggeration. He has the appearance of a god. I maintained my gaze on him. I’m not sure what it is about him that makes me want to go hug him. Greta was waving at us when I noticed. He didn’t even bother to look our way. He simply extended his hand to us and took a few steps forward, but then came to a standstill, cast a glance our way, and then averted his gaze. He resumed walking after a few moments. My heart aches as he walks away. Who is this man? I locked my gaze on Rex. He fixed his gaze on me.
“Why do I have the impression that the last group, their leaders, don’t want to look at us?”
“Perhaps he had a lot on his plate prior to arriving here. Do you want us to take a break and rest inside? Tomorrow, we can greet everyone.” I nodded, and we returned, but when we got to our door, I could tell my Lycan was restless: she wanted to be set free. Why? Because we have no ability to shift?
“There is something wrong with me, Rex.”
“What exactly is it?”
“Athena, she’s restless; it’s as though she wants out, but we can’t shift.” He just hugged me. Then he cupped my cheeks in his hands.
“She is going to be OK. Let’s go inside now.”
It didn’t take me long to get into my pajamas and get ready for bed. After a few skirmishes with sleep, I finally succumbed with the assistance of Rex. My final question before succumbing to sleep, which I still don’t have an answer for, is why was my wolf restless after seeing that guy?
