Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3367

"Mom."

Adrian laughed sheepishly. "Dad will do no such thing. Although he made a mistake, he still has you in his heart.

"Dad's living at my place, and he's been talking about you every day. He wonders who will be there to take a walk with you when you're in a bad mood. He even reads romance novels on his phone to learn how the male lead pursues the female lead. He wants to beg for your forgiveness."

Hunter was already castrated. No matter how pretty and young the other women were, he could not have them.

Belinda had utterly cut him off from indulging in his desires.

Nevertheless, Hunter disagreed to a divorce. Although he despised his wife, he was unwilling to get a divorce because he knew he would barely get any assets and leave with nothing.

He could never win against Belinda in Jensburg unless he lived longer than she did.

That way, he could utilize his authority as an elder of the Fisher family after she died.

However, that could only be achieved if the new matriarch was someone who respected him as a father.novelbin

If it were Caroline, she would not allow him to have any authority.

Hunter would still have to tread timidly.

He felt like he had been living a life of restraint.

As expected, being the live-in son-in-law of the Fisher family was not easy.

He must have hit his head back then to have chosen to marry into Belinda's family. The only benefit he got was that the Clarks lived comfortably, thanks to Belinda no less.

Another reason for his refusal was also for the Clarks family's sake.

Once he and Belinda divorced, not only would he not receive any assets, but Belinda would also take back everything his siblings possessed. That was why he had chosen to castrate himself rather than get a divorce.

Belinda sneered. "Your dad hates reading and always falls asleep immediately. Can he even follow the story? It'll be more believable if you say he's watching videos of pretty girls."

"Don't think of Dad that way, Mom. He has treated you well all along."

Belinda said coldly, "Don't interfere in my business with your father. Why do you think he treats me well? Is he sincere? I knew better than you guys but pretended not to for all your sake."

Adrian pressed his lips together. Suddenly, he said, "Have you ever loved Dad? You hold another person in your heart, right? Dad said the person you love is someone else, not him.

"That's why you've been acting high and mighty toward Dad even after decades of marriage and having four children. Dad may have made a mistake, but it was a trap set up for him our family is in shambles now because you refuse to let go of that matter."

Caroline's eyes widened as she turned to look at Adrian. She wanted to give him a thumbs up but knew she could not.

Adrian's boldness was limitless all of a sudden. He was defending Hunter and accusing their mother.

"Enough!" Belinda interjected.

"You don't have to explain anything or put in good words for your dad. Hunter and I have been husband and wife for decades. I'm more aware of what kind of person he is and how he thinks of me than you.

"Who hasn't had a crush on someone when they were young? Who I liked before I married has nothing to do with Hunter or you all. He has no right to talk about me, let alone you guys. You're my children, not my elders. You don't have the right to criticize me."

Hunter quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Mom. It was my fault. I didn't think before I spoke."

He sympathized with Hunter.

They had witnessed how meek Hunter was before their mother since they were young.

Man to man, he understood best.

If Emma had treated him the way Belinda had treated Hunter, he would not have been able to accept it. "Help your sister out with the company. Carol is your biological sister."
