The Alpha’s Dynasty

Questions

Kim.

“Why are you here?” Harlow asked me. We were in his office and I was seated across from him.

“You’re the COO,” I stated, studying his face. I had to choose my words wisely to achieve the effect I want. “You have a lot of power, right?”

“That’s right.” He said with a hint of pride in his voice. That was okay because in my opinion, he deserved to be the CEO. He was quite smart when he wasn’t horny.

“We can bring complaints to you if the CEO is not around, right?” My eyebrows rose.

“Yes but it depends on what it is,” he pressed a key on the keyboard attached to his desktop computer. He talked while looking at something on the screen. “Some issues should be solved by the department managers.”

“What if my complaint is about a department manager?”

“Are you talking about Maya?” He looked up, now seeming interested in what I had to say. I smiled inwardly. I knew that Harlow was a fan of Maya and I knew from experience that if she threw herself at him, he’d take the offer in a heartbeat. I couldn’t blame him. Maya was beautiful, but not more than me obviously.

“I’m just asking.” I hated that the conversation was not going the way I expected. It should’ve been easier.

“Listen, Kim. Please take the complaint to the senior manager or Human Resources. There’s a hierarchy that needs to be followed. Even Maya follows it.” It was clear that he admired her a lot. He was becoming rude because I’d hinted that she was on the wrong. It seemed he’d always had a soft spot for her like most men at the company. I couldn’t wait for the day I got rid of her forever because it was seeming harder each passing day.

Harry had told me Zane had asked Maya to go to his office the previous night which meant they were getting closer. If it was what we were thinking, the two would become a couple soon and I planned on making sure that did not happen.

“I know but I feel more comfortable around you so I thought I could report to you first.”

One of my actress friends had given me a pill that messes with emotions. It was hard but thanks to it, I was able to manufacture some tears that made my fake sadness look real. I was glad I didn’t put any make up on. “Things have been so hard ever since Miss Bennett returned.”

“I’ve never seen you this sad before,” he observed. “Did you and Maya have another fight?”

Note to self; Always save your tears for the right moment. If I’d ever cried about a small issue in his presence, Harlow would realize I was faking it. It looked like my plan was going to work, after all. It seemed he believed me, a little. I knew it was going to be very hard but I had to turn him against Maya.

“Enough, Kim. I know Maya and I’m sure she hasn’t done anything that could make a person like you cry. What are you up to now?”

“A person like me?” I asked, aware that he was talking about my strong personality. “What do you mean by that, Mr. Harlow?”

“Stop the drama. Mr. Carrington will be here at three o’clock. You’ll go and talk to him when he’s back. Besides, our personnel psychologist will be here next week. Your problems with Maya will be sorted out then. If you can’t wait, talk to the Human Resource Manager because I can’t deal with petty drama unless the people below me have failed to solve it.”

No. I didn’t expect it to be so hard. How the hell was I going to turn him against her?Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

“So you blatantly choose not to hear me out?”

“Okay,” he let out an exasperated sigh. “What’s the problem?”

“Maya withholds work from me. She changed all the E-mail passwords and doesn’t talk to me. I need to do the work I was hired for.”

“It looks you and Maya can’t work together. Do you want a transfer? We can transfer you to another department or branch if you’d like. I need to go somewhere right now so get out of my office.”

“Mr. Harlow, why are you acting like this towards me?”

“You’re not special,” he said. “You’re just a naïve little girl who thinks she can use what’s between her legs to get to the top of the world. It won’t work with me.”

I wanted to remind him of the times he had himself between those legs but realized there was no point in that. He didn’t seem inclined to go against sweet old Maya Bennett so I had to go back and come up with a better plan. I left his office and gave myself a day off since Maya didn’t care whether I worked or not anymore.

Two weeks back, Mane, my partner in crime had given me a tracking device he stole from some Chinese company. I had placed it in Harlow’s phone when he was showering after us having a good time. It was hard but I was able to do it without him finding out. I used to feel guilty but when he started acting different after sleeping with me thrice, I realized he had been using me and had probably found someone else. I didn’t feel so bad about it anymore. I wasn’t sure it would ever come in handy but the opportunity had finally presented itself. I hoped Harlow was off to do something dirty like the dirty old man he was.

Later, Mane and I found Harlow in a restaurant in one of the city suburbs. It was a very private and exclusive one and we were only allowed in because I had a Milner Inc. ID and I lied that I was there to meet with the COO. Mane passed off as the company’s driver with his fake ID.

We arrived just in time. Harlow was passing an envelope to a man seated across from him. I took a few pictures of the envelope and many of the other man. I needed to know who he was and I’d find out. I also had to investigate in my ways. If this turned out to be a bribe, I’d soon be the junior actuarial officer at Milner Insurance Company.

I smiled because fate was finally smiling upon me. I couldn’t wait to get rid of Maya Bennett forever.
