Chapter 180
Chapter 180
Aurora looked around, and though the maids did not make it obvious that they were interested in whatever was going on between the Alpha and his assistant, they quickly went about their duties the moment Alpha Cal followed Aurora’s gaze.
He opened her door and pushed her inside.
This was not his first time in her room, so Aurora was not uncomfortable when he asked again,
“Your birthday wish?”
Aurora’s gaze pinned on him and she asked coquettishly. “My birthday wish is for you to break up with your fiancé. Can you do that?”
Alpha Cal froze instantly, taking backward steps away from her. “What are you up to?” He sounded displeased.
It was not as if he had not thought about it, but he had. The attraction he felt for Aurora was unique, and he kept falling in love with her with each passing day, but Asena was the woman he loved, being the one who sent her to medical school.
He could not betray her, no matter how valuable Aurora equally was to the pack. “That is impossible, and you should never mention it again.”
Aurora’s heart ached, and she did not know for how long she could bear it.
“You are the one who insisted on my making a wish.”
“Well, make another.” Alpha Cal sounded upset. “Anything else, but I would never break up with my fiancé.” He was already at the door when her words caused him to pause.
“I have to go,” Aurora said. It was as if something left Alpha Cal. There was just something about Aurora, and he could not let her go just like that.
“No. I won’t let you. You are a member of this pack,” he turned around and said.
Where would she go anyway? She was already an orphan.
“But my mate isn’t here. I have to go search for him,” Aurora said calmly. She was testing him, and everything inside of him wanted to possess her.
Perhaps, if he had not met Asena that day, then Aurora would have been the right person. Her presence was so calming; he could not resist.
Nevertheless, what gave her the guts to even propose to him indirectly? Then again, she mentioned going in search of her mate. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
That was the job of the werewolves and not a she–wolf. “Aurora, stop trying to be a man. If your mate needs you, he would find you right here, and until then, you are not going anywhere.”
When Alpha Cal left her room, the liquors in his room suffered. He could not understand the reason why he wanted Aurora so much and yet could not have her.
Gulping down a bottle of whiskey like water, it was not enough to heal the pain in his heart but maybe, Asena would be able to take his mind off
Aurora when she returns.
Then again, he was afraid of how strong and bold Aurora was, not fearing to make the first move. Constantly, he felt that she was hiding something but could not tell what it was.
Aurora broke down and cried, wondering if he would have broken up with Asena if he knew they were mates.
She underestimated it when her parents told her that she had been cursed to not recognize the mate bond, and now she knew how painful it was.
Early the next morning, she heard a knock on her door. Aurora was so deflated by the heartache of last night, thankfully being her fake and not her real birthday.
She only managed to sleep after comforting herself that for as long as Alpha Cal had not marked and mated Asena, a miracle could happen.
It was her curse for him to not recognize the mate bond, and also, he saved her life. Aurora went to get the door, surprised to see Linda.
“Are you sick? Rene came here to look for you.” Linda asked with care upon seeing Aurora’s puffy eyes.
Hearing about Rene, Aurora knew she had to be strong and to not let anyone know that she had indirectly proposed to Alpha Calhoun.
Being in her pajamas, she quickly said, “I will go see her.” She walked to the closet and began to pick up her training clothes when Linda stepped into the room and closed the door.
“What do you want?” Aurora asked, getting annoyed as she removed her pajamas and put on her training clothes.
Linda’s tone was soft. “I just want to thank you,” she said, Aurora instantly remembered his son, Jace, from last night.

“It’s nothing.”
Linda disagreed, her gaze filled with admiration. If she had known how capable Aurora was, she would have told her about Jace’s condition when the former asked and not wasted so much money.
“It means everything. Do you know how much of my dignity you have saved? I won’t go about borrowing money anymore.”
If Jace had not made her swear to keep it a secret, the whole pack would have known of it by now.
“That reminds me. Why didn’t you ask your Alpha for help than those girls?” Aurora asked curiously, wondering if Alpha Cal was stingy to his pack members.
From the records of distribution, he wasn’t.
“Not everyone has the boldness to send their problems to him. I can now save up to pay those girls what I owe, and they won’t disrespect me anymore.”
Aurora felt pity for her, aside from the fact that she had money she did not need. “Just tell me the amount, and I will give you the money.”
Linda felt she was bragging because she had no knowledge of the amount. “It’s about a hundred thousand in total. How will you get that?”
Aurora smiled. “From all my salary working here. Don’t worry. I’m just an orphan with no responsibilities. Give me your account, and I will send it to you.”
Linda’s admiration for her grew, wrapped with respect. “Aurora, from today, I’m your slave.”
There was no other way for Linda to thank Aurora, except from being at her beck and call.
“No. I helped you from my heart. I will go see Rene now,” Aurora politely refused, putting on her nerd glasses.
For the remaining months, things improved in the Crescent Moon Pack, thanks to their collaboration with the Dark Moon pack.
There were more job avenues, and the pack increased with external members joining for security after the pack was attacked two more times, with Aurora helping Alpha Cal through it all.
She had become a household name in the pack, and everyone expected Alpha Cal to break up his engagement with Asena for a much worthier helper like Aurora, but that did not happen.
Rather, he increased her salary. That money was reinvested into the pack members. Aurora never took anything, rather using her resources to help those who needed it.
It was a month to Aurora’s second birthday at the pack when things began to take a different turn. Aurora was in the office when somebody barged in, running to Cal’s desk and throwing herself into his arms.
“Cal, I missed you so much, and why did you refuse to attend my graduation?” A sweet voice rang in Aurora’s ears, and she was completely ignored.
