Chapter 228
(Luna Belle’s Pov)
Things were becoming worse than I expected.
I had always known how much Griffin hated Rose, but I never imagined he would be bold enough to try to take her life.
I sighed and moved to the dressing mirror on one side of my room.
I stared at my appearance.
I still looked as beautiful as I used to be. Maybe older and wrinkled, but beautiful nonetheless.
When we were younger, Rose and I were the best of friends. There wasn’t a thing we didn’t know about each other.
At the time, I had a huge crush on Griffin. He was the Alpha’s son ans soon–to–be Alpha of our pack, so it was quite difficult to get him to notice me.
I already had my own mate, who I rejected. He was a lowly Omega, and I never could imagine a life with him, not when I was attracted to the Alpha, and I knew there was a chance to get him to love me.
Rose was always the romantic type. She waited desperately for her mate, but when she didn’t find one, she gave up on it.
Then when Rose came to visit me and found out that Griffin was her mate, I was devastated that my best friend and crush were mates. Just when I thought it was all over, Rose confided in me that she was pregnant.
She told me about a vampire, and how she already had something to do with the stranger…
Griffin found out and rejected my friend, and then, I in turn betrayed her by marrying her mate.
I couldn’t say no when he reached out to me to marry me to spite my friend..
I still remember the look in her eyes when she found out I was getting married to Griffin.
She looked I stabbed her with a knife in her heart. My decision was horrible, but there was no going back for me. I was going to live, and achieve my dream of being Luna at the detriment of our friendship.
After our marriage, I told him lies vabout Rose being promiscuous, so he would never go back to her.
Griffin believed all of this even when Rose tried to tell him it wasn’t true; he never believed.
I sighed and moved away from the mirror.
I couldn’t look at myself without feeling disgusted.
I felt guilt for everything I had done to Rose.
Griffin made me his mate, but he never loved me. He kept Rose as a concubine and used her to satisfy his desire. I made sure Rose spent every moment in this house in terror.
It wasn’t enough that I got the man I wanted; I wanted his love too.
But I never got it, up till now
All the time I spent making Rose miserable, all the years I spent making sure Eden and Olivia had a horrible life because of their mother, was all for nothing.

I helped Griffin get his revenge on Rose, but it was of no use. He never loved me more because of that.

I felt worse for encouraging Lyra to bully Eden. Now my daughter was missing, and she had done something terrible. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
She killed someone.
As much as I knew I was a horrible woman, I never wanted my daughter to do the things I had done just for her.
I never imagined Lyra would ever turn out worse than I was.
I already lived an empty and lifeless life. Everything was a mess, and nothing made sense.
My marriage revolved around Rose. Even though I had taken her place, I couldn’t entirely wipe her off our lives. Griffin remained obsessed with her but hated her because of her affair with Shevek before she met him.
And the more I tried to make Rose look miserable, the more I became miserable. I became a shadow of myself.
I had no idea what was going on in my own home or in the pack
Griffin tried to hide things from me.
He refused to tell me where my daughter had escaped to or who she was with. He refused to discuss pack business with me or his plans.
I was at a loss of what to do.
I couldn’t even say if Lyra was dead or alive.
Now it was Rose.
I was surprised when I heard the pack members whisper among themselves that they had captured the vampire and his
mate.
I never knew that was Griffin’s plan, to kill Lord Shevek and Rose. That was not my intention.
I had done Rose a lot of wrong, and the only way to compensate for what I did was to help her.
I looked out the window. Dressed in a black gown, I wore a gloomy expression and made up my mind.
I hurried out of the room and ran across the hallway quickly, trying to make sure I got to the room in time before Griffin would notice anything.
I knew that if Griffin came back, he would try to look for me in the room, and if he didn’t see me, he would try to look for me, and the last place I wanted him to see me was in the place where I was told not to enter.
I entered the underground room where Rose was kept, and I entered.
I looked at the table where Rose and Lord Shevek lay lifeless, and I quickly pulled out the wooden stake that was stuck in Shevek’s chest.
A loud
gasp
filled the room, and Shevek came back to life.
His eyes were red–rimmed, and a slight shiver ran through me. I didn’t think this through earlier.
Before I could move, Lord Shevek grabbed me by the neck and sank his teeth into my
neck.
I felt my body grow weak as life was rapidly sucked out of me. I tried to struggle, but Shevek’s grip was too tight.
My eyes clamped closed, and I stopped breathing.
