Chapter 1288
By the year Kari found out she was pregnant, she and Ronald had been married for three years.
After giving it a lot of thought, they decided it was time to start a family. Six months later, Kari was expecting. Ronald made sure to get the best care for her, canceling most of his work to be by her side.
Kari bumped into Nathan just as she was leaving the doctor's office.
It had been three years.
Nathan seemed more mature, his features etched with a certain austerity.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Rumor had it that Mila had been seriously ill over those years.
She tried to push Nathan into marriage.
But she couldn't make it happen.
In the end, Mila gave up.
She followed Nathan to Imperial City. After recovering, she took to gardening instead of living the high life as before.
Ronald was still inside the clinic, sorting out some paperwork.
Kari, four months along, had a slight bump showing through her crisp white maternity dress, looking radiant and neat. "It's been a while," Kari broke the silence.
Nathan, a bit awkward, had a lot to say but ended up asking, "How's the morning sickness?"
"Not too bad," Kari was considered of advanced maternal age and admitted, "It hasn't been easy."
Nathan wanted to show his concern but felt out of place.
After a brief chat, Nathan left as Ronald appeared.
"Why is he here?" Ronald asked with a hint of annoyance, holding the medical reports and Kari's personalized water bottle.
"I don't know," Kari took her water bottle, "Let's go."
Ronald couldn't help but speculate, "Is he still into you? The guy's over thirty and still single."
Kari just sighed.
"You were over thirty when we got married too," she reminded him.
"That's different. I married you. He
still has feelings for you," Ronald et

Kari just smiled, patting her belly, "Let's just go."
Ronald followed, continuing to fuss over prenatal care, which Kari half-listened to. She knew Ronald
would take care of her either way.
In the tail end of winter, Kari gave birth to a girl, whom Ronald adored, naming her Delphine Malone. Delphine was cheerful, much like Kari.
Ronald took over most of the childcare, allowing Kari to hit the gym once she was out of confinement.
Once back in shape, Kari landed several big contracts, making a tidy sum.
Willa had hoped Kari might take a longer break, considering the baby needed care.
"Mom, I don't want to rest just yet," Kari had a nanny to help at home.
"I'm still young. I want to focus on my career," she reasoned.
Ronald was supportive, and Willa couldn't object.
Kari's career flourished, and Ronald's company went public within five years.
When Delphine was three, Kari was expecting again.
Ronald cleared his schedule to stay home with her.
Initially, Kari hadn't planned on more children, especially since Ronald had a vasectomy.
Yet, here they were, expecting another miracle.
One summer afternoon, Kari, feeling

It was Ronald preparing dinner.
Kari got up and, seeing Ronald's figure by the stove, felt a wave of affection.
She walked over and wrapped her arms around his waist.
Ronald's lips curved into a smile, "It'll be ready soon."
Everything just seemed perfect.
