The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 19 The First Maintenance

"You've been married to our Michael for over two years now, right? Why haven't you had a kid yet?" Michael's aunt asked, her tone dripping with judgment. She had a husband who was notorious for fooling around with women, and she herself was always hanging out with male models, all under the Smith Family's protection. Their reputation was pretty awful.

"Go pressure your husband. We're not in a rush," Emily shot back, not even bothering to look at her.

She used to put up with everything because she loved Michael and was willing to endure it for his sake. But now, as her love for Michael faded and her disappointment grew, she wasn't going to take their crap anymore. "What did you just say? Do you have any manners? How can you talk to your elders like that?" Faye Smith snapped.

"Elders should act like elders," Michael's angry voice cut through the tension from behind.

As soon as everyone saw Michael, they backed off, not wanting to provoke him. No matter how much they disliked Emily, she was still Michael's wife, and no one else had the right to criticize her.

Emily was taken aback; this was the first time Michael had stood up for her in front of everyone. In the past, he always pretended not to notice, letting them bully and mock her.

She had grown more and more disappointed in him because of his indifference and neglect.

"Come with me," Michael said, extending his hand to her without any expression.

Emily didn't want to make a scene in front of everyone, so she placed her hand in his. His palm was warm and dry, and for a moment, her heart raced. But then it settled back to normal. Michael had noticed her the moment she walked in. Maybe he had never really taken the time to see her before, but today, she looked so stunning that he couldn't take his eyes off her. Seeing her calm expression and slender waist, Michael felt a dryness in his throat.

"No one's watching us anymore. Let go of me," Emily said, pulling her hand away forcefully.

Michael, however, asked a different question, "Aren't you cold? Have you forgotten you're still sick?"

His attitude puzzled her, and she didn't bother to figure it out. "None of your business. I'm going to Grandpa," Emily said, turning to leave.

Michael watched her walk away, unsure of his feelings. He was determined to divorce her, but after seeing her today, he felt reluctant to let her go, as if she could only belong to him.

As the CEO of Smith Corporation and the head of the Smith Family, he had the most rational and professional judgment in business, but when it came to Emily, he hesitated.

Emily went to Mason, who was surrounded by younger family members, laughing heartily. Not wanting to disturb him, she found a quiet place to sit for a while.

Soon, a servant came to her, saying the banquet was starting, which was the last thing she wanted to face.

Halfway through the banquet, Emily felt the baby in her belly acting up again. Of course, Michael also noticed something was wrong with Emily. He felt a bit nauseous himself, but he hadn't eaten anything yet, being too busy talking. So, in the middle of a conversation, everyone saw the two of them running out, covering their mouths.

"Emily, what's wrong with you?" Michael asked, trying to keep his irritation in check.

Emily felt better after throwing up, and her mood lightened up a bit. "I told you, my stomach's upset. How many times do I have to say it?" She glared at Michael, also noticing that whenever she felt unwell, he seemed to get nauseous too. 'Is it because of me?' she wondered.

Michael didn't know what to say. After a moment, he decided to drop it.

When the banquet finally ended, Emily had to help see the guests off. Scarlett took the opportunity to scold her again, "With your frail body, how are you going to have children for Michael? You're always sickly. It's bad luck just looking at you." Emily was speechless and pretended not to hear.

She asked Mason if she could stay at the old house for a few more days, and Mason readily agreed. But Michael was unhappy and found Emily feeding fish in the garden with the servants.

"What do you mean? Not going back to Emerald Lake Manor?" Michael asked.

Emily didn't want to make a scene in front of others, so she replied softly, "Yeah, I want to stay with Grandpa for a few more days. You go back first." She thought, 'Why should I go back? To watch you flaunt your love with Sophia?'

"No, Grandpa doesn't need your company. You're coming back with me." Michael couldn't explain why he insisted she return, only knowing she had to stay where he could see her, and he wouldn't go to the old house every day because it was too far.

"I said I'm not going back." Emily threw down the fish food and turned to leave.

Michael immediately chased after her and grabbed her hand. "Give me a reason," he demanded persistently.

Emily, annoyed, shook off his hand and glared at him. "Do I have to spell it out? You brought Sophia back to live there, and I find it disgusting, okay? Didn't you say you were willing to get beaten and kneel in the family chapel just to divorce me for her? What are you doing now? Can't let go of me? Don't want a divorce anymore?"This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

After shouting, Emily felt relieved. He wanted to control her, but she was no longer someone he could control. She was completely disappointed in him.

Michael was momentarily stunned and then replied calmly, "No, I didn't bring her back."

"What?" Emily thought she had misheard. 'He didn't bring Sophia back? But so what? It doesn't change his actions and words from yesterday.' "Whatever." Emily didn't want to discuss it further and turned to leave.

In the end, Michael forcibly took her away from the old house. Emily hated him for always disregarding her wishes. Marriage and divorce were all up to him.

"When are we going to get the divorce agreement?" Emily hadn't said a word since getting in the car, only speaking coldly when they got home.

"I'll have the lawyer revise the divorce terms. The new ones haven't come in yet. Just wait," Michael said indifferently and then drove off.

It was late, and she knew exactly where he was going. The thought made her heart ache. 'He is torn between me and Sophia. Doesn't he feel tired?'

Emily sneered, now eager to get divorced and leave this suffocating place.

The next day, Abigail asked her to discuss Phantom Beauty. As soon as she entered the café, she saw Sophia. She wanted to find another place to talk, not wanting Sophia to ruin her mood, but Sophia wouldn't let her. "Emily, why are you leaving so soon? Not staying for a cup of coffee?" Sophia saw Emily and could barely contain her anger.
