The CEO’s Substitute Lover

Chapter 4: Fate

A helpless Eddison, listening to Octavia Gills’ drunken ramblings, was amazed that this woman of unknown origin was shouting at President Davi, who knew her?

Eddison, who had no idea, looked at Octavia Gills and frowned in frustration. She had a slight cleanliness problem, and after the heroic rescue drama, she had a flirtatious love affair.

The sour smell that was hard to ignore reminded Eddison that he needed to find somewhere to sort himself out. So, Eddison left the bar with the delirious Octavia Gills in his arms!

As morning dawned, and all is quiet, the night has long since receded into the slowly rising sun. The blinding sunlight through the large floor-to-ceiling window wakes Octavia Gills, who is sleeping, breathing steadily, and frowning a little discontentedly. In bed, her lazy, nimble eyes blinked,

“Where am I? Why am I here? Domino, Domino,” Octavia Gills shouted as she thought about getting up to find Domino who had taken her to the bar last night to relax.

“Ah!” Octavia Gills suddenly grabbed the expensive tensile quilt and wrapped it around herself seeing that she was only wearing a male white shirt, this was not Domino’s house and Octavia Gills had a swelling headache as she desperately searched her mind for memories of last night! Suddenly her own illogical thoughts were broken by a man’s voice.

“You’re awake, it’s Monday, and generally, women with normal jobs are at work at this moment. Are you going to give me a hand since I rescued you last night, young lady, or are you going to get up and get your face ready?” Before the robed Eddison could finish, a square-jawed Octavia Gills let out renewed screams of panic.

“Ah!” Octavia Gills came with a startled cry, a little shocked to see the man appear in his robe, then thinking that it was a night out with Domino and nothing should have happened.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

With no physical sensations other than a headache, her confused nature soon left her, and to Eddison’s surprise, she said, “Excuse me! How did I get here? This gentleman??and where is Domino? Oh no! It’s 8 o’clock! It’s too late, I’m running late! Excuse me sir, may I ask where my clothes are?”

Octavia Gills couldn’t wait to ask Eddison who is standing in front of her, asking him how she got here? And why was she dressed like this? Why had Domino, her best friend who had stayed by her side last night, been replaced by this man who looked so good? Seeing the clock on the wall, she rushed off to work in a frenzy of self-imposed rhythm.

Is this woman from Earth? Eddison looked at his gold-rimmed and diamond-encrusted watch and watched in amazement as Octavia Gills jumped and ran into the bathroom with her dry-cleaned clothes in just five minutes. Then, fully clothed except for her hair which was a bit dishevelled, walked towards the front door. He was so illogical and ignored his own handsome face that he rushed forward and grabbed Octavia Gills, who was about to run out the door.

“Wait, how can you be so strange, you woman? How can you just walk away without even saying thank you? Not only did you not thank your prince for saving your life last night, but you also didn’t apologize for hugging me to death last night and vomiting on me? How can you behave like this? This is outrageous!” The ever sensible Eddison was furious with Octavia Gills who was ignoring her, to the point where she was speaking out of turn!

“No, I’ve got something important to do, I’ll see you when I’m done, here’s my card, I’m late, thanks, ah?? no sorry, no we’ll be in touch then!” After handing Eddison her card, Octavia Gills hurriedly waved goodbye to Eddison as she raced to the closing lift, leaving a hurt and helpless Eddison in her wake.

“Now when did women become so so…”

A speechless Eddison looked at the business card that Octavia Gills had just hastily left behind, and seeing the words Octavia Gills, Financial Secretary of Group Davi, Eddison smiled wickedly and said, ” Fate, really does pull strange things, heh, it’s kind of funny! See you later, little Octavia.”

Eddison, who was inexplicably happy, went to his bedroom, put on a white shirt and a dark blue jacket, picked up the conspicuous little gold bottle of cologne and sprayed it into the air, tilting his head with his hands open and closing his eyes to absorb the particulate molecules of the cologne. With an eerie smile on his face, a smile that reveals a touch of heartfelt pleasure, that even Eddison doesn’t notice!

In front of the entrance of Group Davi, a taxi stops slowly, the door opens and long, slender, white legs in a pair of 8cm heels hastily jumps out of the taxi, wearing the same tight white dress that Domino had chosen for herself yesterday. Octavia Gills rushes to the entrance of the office, hiding her bag as she jogs towards the door, reaching for her mobile phone. She called Domino, her best friend and colleague.

“Domino, what happened last night? Why did you leave me alone with a man? I’ll let you off the hook for for now, but get your ass down right now to the bottom drawer of my desk, my spare work ID is in there, go down to the entrance and rescue me, and bring out my black suit style jacket from my work chair, quick, I’m going to be late!” Octavia Gills hung up after a breathless crackle and chose to wait for Domino’s rescue by leaning behind a massive pillar that would shield her slender body.

“Octavia, come on, last minute punch.”

Domino, who had seen Octavia Gills, was in a frenzy and dragged her to the clock. The impatient Domino had a lot of questions for Octavia Gills, who disappeared last night for no apparent reason, “What happened to you last night? You didn’t answer my phone calls, you didn’t even reply on Facebook, you disappeared when I came back from the restroom. My heart was pounding all night, and I was so worried!”

“No Domino, I was going to ask you why I woke up in a strange man’s house! Where did you go last night? Why did you leave me alone with a man? And who was that man?” A drunken Octavia Gills couldn’t remember what happened to her last night. So when Domino said that, she was even more confused.

“Ah, a man? Jesus, You run off with a strange man even when I’m was only going to the restroom? You, you, you… Octavia, you shouldn’t do that, running off with a man without as much as telling me!”
