The Invincible Arthur Gardner

Chapter 41 - A Voyage of Mercy

Chapter 41 - A Voyage of Mercy

“Woah…. I'm so happy!”

Edna beamed with joy as she and Arthur made their way home, reminiscing about the incredible

evening they had just spent watching Claudina's remarkable and unforgettable solo performance. With

a face alight with delight, a wide smile spread across her face.

"This is truly the most amazing concert I've ever seen in my life," she exclaimed joyfully. "I'm so

pleased to have experienced it."

She cast a quick glance to her left, her eyes resting on her boss, Arthur. He was always composed, no

matter the situation, with a stoic expression on his face.

"Why do you remain so calm and composed while the beloved Princess Claudina stands before us,

confessing her love for you in front of these many admirers? Aren't you moved at all?"

Arthur gave Edna a puzzled look and asked, "Huh? Is that true? Did I hear her say the word 'love'?" His

tone was casual, though his expression showed a hint of surprise.

"Are you too dense, or are you that innocent?" Edna said, emphasizing her words and followed by a

chuckle that made her eyes shut, and her hand flew up to her red lips to muffle her laughter.

"I am sure I know more than that," Arthur said slowly, glancing at Edna. "I understand and appreciate

the changes Claudina has made. I hope her dreams will come true."

Edna beamed a beautiful smile, her face radiating with warmth.

"I actually feel a bit envious," she replied in a hushed tone.

"Envy of what?"

"I was the one who had the privilege of getting to know you first, and I was fortunate enough to receive

your generosity," she explained, "but Ms. Claudina was more adept at conveying her love for you, even

when the audience was made up of millions of people."

"I promise that I'll do everything in my power to meet your expectations!" Edna said earnestly, her voice

full of determination.

She nodded a few times affirmatively, her gaze drawn to the twinkling street lights of the majestic city

as they drove along in the sports car at a leisurely pace.

"Thank you, Edna," Arthur said, his face glowing with gratitude. "You have done far more than I could

have hoped for. I am truly grateful." Arthur said, his face beaming with contentment.

He felt that his life was as good as it could possibly be, far exceeding anything he had experienced up

until the introduction of the system.

Despite enduring a life of destitution, Arthur never faltered nor took the path of inactivity due to the

financial struggles that kept him at the bottom of the social ladder. He was a man of unwavering

conviction, never wavering in his pursuit of whatever he set his mind to.

“Edna…” Arthur said, turning to her with an inquisitive look.

"Huh?" Edna replied, tilting her head in confusion.

He continued, "I'm looking to invest in a larger venture, something that will help me increase my wealth

and provide me with long-term financial stability. I want to make a lasting impact with my investments."

"Oh...." Edna said thoughtfully. "I think you have unlimited money?"

Edna listened to Arthur's words with a kind and gentle expression as if all the love she had in her heart

was being directed towards this man.

"It's true," Arthur conceded, speaking slowly as he admitted, "I have a lot of money, enough that I could

spend lavishly on anything in this city, and yet still have plenty left over to do something else fantastic."

However, he continued, his voice rising with passion, "I have an even grander dream. I want to

establish a business empire that stretches across all industries in this city, the nation, and perhaps

even the world. I have a great mission in life."

Arthur spoke slowly, his expression revealing the depth of his convictions.

"I long to see a world that is more equitable and just, where the affluent recognize and honor their

privileges and use them to uplift people who are less fortunate. I also wish to see more opportunities for

everyone, regardless of how much luck they were born into."

"Isn't that dreaming too high?" Edna inquired, furrowing her brows.

Arthur slowly nodded in agreement.

“I wouldn't be surprised at all if you have such a noble mission," she said, giving him affirmation, "but

the road ahead of you will be very long and tiring.”

"You don't need to worry," Edna said, nodding quickly. "I will always be here to serve you to the best of

my abilities; all you have to do is tell me what you need, and I'll help you find a way to make it happen."

She paused and then asked, “So, do you have any ideas on what the first step should be?”

“Yes. “

In a hushed tone, Arthur recounted all his research on the city of Southlake, situated near the immense

Golden Lake in the center of the continent. This sprawling body of water serves a variety of purposes

for the people of Southlake – from fishing and power generation to entertainment and leisure. It is a

source of sustenance for both the locals and visitors from other areas, providing an abundance of

recreational activities.

"My goal is to acquire the majority of Golden Lake Island, a stunningly beautiful little island in the

middle of Golden Lake, in order to establish a business that I can gradually develop into a renowned

tourist destination." Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

Edna nodded enthusiastically in agreement. "That is quite a grand ambition! Perhaps we should pay a

visit to Golden Lake Island to get to know the island better and acclimate ourselves with the place that

will become your business empire in the future?"

"Absolutely!" Arthur replied enthusiastically. "That would be wonderful. We will be departing for the

vacation within the next few days, so please make sure that all of our necessary items, including the

most exquisite yacht in the city, are ready and waiting for us. " He flashed Edna a pleased smile.

"No need to worry, I'll make sure to prepare everything for you," she replied warmly. "Oh, and will you

also be inviting Ms. Claudina to join you for dinner on the island? I know you have plans to meet up

with her, correct?"

Arthur glanced at Edna for a moment, then nodded slowly with a smirk. "Yes, I think that would be a

perfect plan," he said.

"Alright," Edna nodded and smiled. "I will be with you throughout the day, and Ms. Claudina will be

joining you for dinner in the evening. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time, won't you?"

"Yes, Edna," Arthur said, his smirk widening. "You always make me feel so happy when you're around."

"I was genuinely delighted to receive your praise. Nevertheless, there seems to be an underlying tinge

of sarcasm in your words. Are you being sincere with your compliment?"

"At least I haven't called you my angel, as you did me, correct?"

Arthur and Edna conversed the entire evening, and it was a momentous night for him, demonstrating

that he could make a substantial difference in the lives of those he encountered through his good

deeds.

That night, Arthur made a firm decision about the course of his life: he was determined to use his

kindness to reach beyond his own circle and impart a valuable lesson to those who had yet to

understand the true power of goodness. He was sure they would never forget this lesson.
