The Mafia Bride (Katrina and Silas)

Chapter 38

My face blanched, my heart beating wildly in panic.

"Did you think you'd be able to run away from me? My dear wife Chris asked, his hot breath fanning my face.

"Let me go," I hissed, trying to pull my hands out of his hold but was of no use.

His hands clamped down tightly around my wrist filling me with disgust.

I always hated it whenever Chris touched me and right now wasn't an exception.

"You'd come with me. Marcos would be happy to know that his precious daughter who was kidnapped was having the time of her life. Chris said with venom dripping down his words.

If I didn't feel fear previously, I did now.

It only meant that father was here and Chris wanted to pull me to him.

I knew that Silas had told me that, and yet I still managed to let my guard down.

1 didn't expect to see Chris while I was dancing, and now he was taking me away to see Marcos.

Shouldn't I be happy?

had been kidnapped and finally got the chance to go back home.

I should be ecstatic, over the moon.

I should be rushing off to where Father was,

But yet, the only thing I felt was fear as I fought in his hold.

I didn't want to see that man.

Everyone around us ignored us, dancing and changing partners,

My eyes searched around the crowd for Silas, hoping he would be able to save me.

But I didn't find him.

This was the one moment I needed him but he was off with that little witch as expected.

Wasn't it funny that I was searching for my kidnapper to save me from my father?

Just when I thought I was going to be taken away, someone grabbed my arm, pulling me out of Chris' hold. Finally! Silas came to help me-

I turned around with joy but the smile on my face faltered when came face to face with Matthew.

"Matt?" His name slipped out of my tongue, my surprise obvious on my face.

Matthew wouldn't be able to do anything to stop Chris from taking me, that I was sure of.

We just met today so there was no reason for him to butt into a matter that doesn't concern him.

"Where do you think you're going with her?" Matthew asked, pulling me behind him.

I stared at his back surprised as he stood protectively in front of me.

"What I do with my wife has nothing to do with you. Don't meddle in my business, Chris growled with irritation, reaching

for me again.

I instantly took a step back, but Matthew's fingers were still wrapped around my wrist.

He turned to me with a shocked expression, his lips slightly parted

"You're married?" He asked.

His

eyes instantly went to my fingers in search of a ring but I hadn't worn any

I had no idea where I had kept the ring Silas had given, but I certainly had no plans of wearing it

"What? No, I'm not married to him. I instantly refuted, shaking my head.

I wasn't exactly lying: I was married to Silas and not Chris.

But they didn't have to know that.

"Katrina, come to me this instance. Chris ordered and my eyes snapped at him.

My father wasn't around here, if not he would have come to pull me away.

That means I still have the chance to run back to SilasPublished by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

"No."

That one word of rebellion was enough to bring a sadistic smile to Chris' face.

He hated when he was told no, and thisithe countless sex charges to his name.

His veins popped and he clenched and unclenched his fist.

The dance had ended, and we were the only ones left on the dance floor.

My eyes searched around the room once more for where Silas could have gone, my heart hammering in my chest.

I can run off since it's

e it's just Chris, but it would be a different case if my father came here.

"Don't make me ask twice, Katrina. You've only been away for a while and now look how rebellious you are. I would have fun. beating you into submission,"

Chris took a step towards me and Matthew immediately stuck lis foot out

Unable to avoid tripping over Matthew's feet, Chris stumbled towards me and I immediately moved our of the way.

I giggled lightly when Chris pathetically fell to the floor, earning laughter from everyone else around.

Before he could push himself back up, Matthew pulled me away from Chris, dragging me off the dance floor. Chris's furious shout echoed behind us, but we didn't stop.

The stares of the other guests followed us and I fought the laughter that was just about to burst out of my lips.

We burst onto the balcony, and I couldn't help it, I started laughing, the adrenaline rushing through me.

"Did you see that?! The Jook on his face when he kissed the floor, I wish I could have taken a picture to keep it," I said,

throwing my head back as my cheek shook with laughter.

Matthew glanced at me, his lips quirking up in amusement as he watched me laugh.

"So what's his deal anyway?" Matthew asked, leaning against the railing as he waited for me to answer.

I caught my breath, the laugh dying in my throat as I remembered the reality of the situation.

"He, uhm. he thinks I'm his wife, I think. I was supposed to marry him once, but I didn't,"

I looked away, not wanting to reveal too much.

He didn't know who I was exactly or who my father was and I wanted to keep it that way.

Matthew gave me a small nod, his expression softening. "It's alright if you don't want to talk about it."

I offered a weak smile, thankful that he wasn't going to push it.

I didn't want to explain that to the man. I told him my uncle was my husband.

He was about to say something else when his expression shifted, turning more curious.

"I don't see your uncle around. His niece was being harassed by someone,"

My brow furrowed. "My uncle?"

Why was he suddenly thinking about Silas?

Matthew's question caught me off guard, but I didn't have time to dwell on it.

I had expected Silas to match over to me because of the drama we had pulled in front of everyone there, but since he didn't. it only meant that he was nowhere close to the ballroom. So where did he go?

A thought flashed in my mind at that moment. I had a chance staring at me right now.

If I could get out of here before Chris caught up again or even before Silas noticed then maybe I could escape.

"Could you.. drop me off somewhere?" I asked quietly, hoping he wouldn't press for details.

I wasn't certain where I wanted to go; I didn't even have money or any name.

But I was ready to start all over again as long as I escaped the two powerful men in my life.

He looked at me for a moment, then nodded.

"Sure, I'll take you wherever you need to go. Just follow me, need to grab something from the floor above us."

I fought the smile that threatened to break on my face. I couldn jubilate about escaping before actually escaping.

I might meet Silas somewhere here, who knows?

Without hesitation, I followed him through the doors, my mind replaying the look on Chris's face as Matthew had pulled

me away.

I had always wanted to get Chris back for everything he had ever done to me, including thinking that he could get married

to me,

The victory had been sweet, but my relief was short-lived.

Matthew pushed open a door and I stepped inside, completely unaware.

"What did you say you wanted to get from here again?" I asked Matthew, raising my head.

But when I looked up, my heart plummeted into my stomach, the smile on my face freezing.

Sitting before me, as if waiting for this very moment, was my father.

His cold, calculating eyes met mine, an

da cruel smile curled at the corners of his lips.

П

"Have you been well, my dear?" His voice dripped with malice,

each word laced with a sickening familiarity that chilled me
