The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife

Chapter 303

Chapter 303

Grace’s pupils dilated, and her eyelashes fluttered incessantly. “Maybe… it’s the wrong number. Let’s forget about it for now and take our medicine first.”

“A wrong number?”

Eder noticed panic in her eyes and became suspicious. Doubts emerged within him.

The phone rang persistently, as if the caller was determined to keep dialing until it was answered.

Eder’s expression darkened, and he stood up to retrieve her phone. “Then I’ll answer it for you.”

“No need!”

Grace firmly grabbed his hand, exerting force. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Eder grew even more perplexed. Why was her reaction so intense?

Realizing her own overreaction, Grace quickly pulled him back to sit down. “I just remembered. It should be a call from our business partner today. I forgot to save their number.”

His suspicions lingered. “It’s already 9:30 p.m. What business partner would call so late to discuss

work?”

“How would I know… Let me answer and find out.“.

Grace put down the water glass and calmed her pounding heart. As she answered the phone, she adjusted the volume to the lowest setting.

“Hello, what’s the matter?”

On the other end of the line, Nick paused for a moment, and it dawned on him almost instantly. He asked, “Little sister Grace, is Eder next to you? Oh, it seems I’ve called at an inconvenient time and disturbed your lovey–dovey moment.

Grace took a deep breath and glanced at Eder, who stared at her intently. She stood up and walked to the balcony, adopting a cold tone. “Get to the point.”

“Alright, let’s talk business.”

Nick smirked, then turned serious. “Tonight, before 11 p.m., come to the abandoned chemical factory in S City’s eastern suburbs. You can bring bodyguards, but remember, only you can enter Room 302 on the fifth floor!”

Grace didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she turned back and glanced at the bedroom.

Eder was sitting on the edge of the bed, motionless, with his back facing her. She didn’t know what he was thinking; he looked like he wasn’t paying attention to her.

She covered the receiver with her hand and lowered her voice. “Not now; let’s discuss it tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

Nick became dissatisfied and lowered his voice. “Do you know how much effort I put into getting this medicine? If we miss tonight, there won’t be another chance. Even if you send me back to the high– level prison, I won’t be able to obtain it anymore!”

From his tone, it didn’t sound like he intentionally lied.

Grace pondered for a moment. “Okay, I understand.”

After hanging up the phone, she hesitated and walked up to Eder.

“Brother Eder, I have an urgent matter to attend to, and I might be back very late… You should rest.

early and not wait for me.”

Eder’s expression turned cold as he held her hand. “It’s cold outside, and it’s late at night. It’s unsafe for a girl like you to go out alone. Shouldn’t I accompany you?”

“Did you forget I know martial arts? Not just anyone can get close to me. Besides, you shouldn’t go out at night. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.”

She cupped his face and leaned down to kiss his forehead.

“Promise me, take your medicine obediently, and go to sleep early.”

“Okay.”

His stern expression remained unchanged. Grace rewarded him with another kiss before picking up her coat from the coat rack. She quickly left the room.

Eder stood on the balcony and watched her. When her figure disappeared completely beyond the door, he turned back and sat on the edge of the bed. He looked at the medicine box on the bedside table, still filled with more than ten pills.

What could be so important that made her abandon the unfinished task of feeding him his medicine and rush out so late?

And tonight, Grace’s expression was too unnatural. She seemed… to be lying.

Driven by suspicion, he called Eric to investigate what Grace had been busy with recently, where she went during the day, what she did, and….

He pondered for a moment. “She’s probably going to drive the Maserati MC77 tonight. The license. plate number is HUA AC4551. Retrieve the surveillance footage and check the whereabouts of the car. Assign someone to follow her.”

Eric, on the other end of the phone, remained silent for a long time, as if he had heard something horrifying.

“Eric?”

“Boss, 1… Did I hear correctly? Are you investigating Miss Grace?‘

Eric murmured, “Boss, are you sure you want to investigate? If Miss Grace finds out, won’t she feel that you don’t trust her? Will she he very angry?”

Eder fell into silence.

Eric continued, “Miss Grace is extremely clever, as you know. It’s Impossible to keep your investigation of her a secret. Will this create a rift between you? Boss, do you really want to do this?”

Eder hesitated.

He wasn’t sure…

Grace had just said the last time that no matter what happened, she hoped he could always trust her, trust her feelings for him! He should trust her!

Althougirhe thought this way, Grace’s various nervous movements tonight kept replaying in his mind. They all indicated that she was lying, hiding something from him….

“Boss?”

After struggling for a few minutes, Eder sighed. “Forget it; no need to investigate. I trust her.”

He hung up the phone, and his gaze returned to the pile of pills. He took them in an orderly manner and then went to the bathroom to freshen up.

Late at night, a Maserati MC77 parked steadily at the entrance of the abandoned chemical factory on the outskirts. Eleven opened the car door for Grace.

She tightened her coat and turned around to give instructions. “I’ll go in by myself. You guard the entrance. If anything unusual happens, pay attention to my signals.”

“Yes.”

Without further delay, she swiftly stepped into the factory, climbed up to the fifth floor, and arrived at the door of Room 302. She was about to knock on the door when she caught a glimpse of a stealthy figure in the hallway, approaching in a crouched position.

She immediately drew her gun, the cold muzzle quickly aiming at the figure.

Sensing the threat, the figure halted, removed the black cap, and took off the mask and sunglasses, revealing Nick’s azure, phoenix like eyes, shining like exquisite gemstones.

“Little sister Grace, it’s me,” he said.

Grace didn’t lower her gun and asked directly. “Where is the medicine?”

Nick seemed a bit dissatisfied. “Little sister Grace, do you have anything else to say except in this matter? Aren’t you concerned about whether I encountered any danger or got injured today?”

She didn’t want to know. If it weren’t for him providing the medicine, she would have stabbed him a couple of times already.

“Cut the crap and give me the medicine!”

“Alright, alright. Here you go. Little sister Grace, you’re really heartless,” he quipped, straightening his posture and pulling down the zipper of his black jacket. He took out a blue freezer box from inside and handed it to her.

Grace took it, opened it, and inspected its contents. Inside was a thin syringe filled with blue liquid.

“What kind of medicinal drug is this?”

“Little sister Grace, you’re so smart. Why not find out for yourself?” he replied.

Grace remained silent, closed the freezer box, and turned to leave.

Nick stopped her. “Little sister Grace, when do you plan to agree to my other two conditions?”

She narrowed her eyes, her tone icy. “I’ll consider it after I verify the authenticity of your medicine. You better ensure that this is genuine, or..”

Her words implied a threat.

Nick wasn’t afraid of her investigation. He watched her figure and solemnly reminded her, “Little sister Grace, you better think quickly. This medicine can only relieve temporarily. The one that can cure Eder, only I know about it!”

If she took too long to consider and problems arose later, he wouldn’t be held responsible!
