The Proud Boss Lady.

Chapter 29: 29.

“ Why aren't you girls going for the fresher's bonfire night?" Keith barged into his girlfriend's and sisters

room.

They had graduated a few months ago and enrolled in the same college as he and Lex.

“Because we just want to sleep in and catch up with lost time. We can attend other campus parties

later, for this we're skipping." Sunny spoke up.

“It's your first party, go out and have fun. Don't be party poopers." He further probed.

“ What's special about this day anyway?" Hailey asked walking out of the kitchen with three plates of

spaghetti bolognese.

“For starters, you get to meet new people and it's way better than sleeping in," Keith said taking a bite

out of his food.

“Bottom line, there's just free booze and food, then a whole lot of people, making out and fucking

themselves, we'll pass on this one," Sunny added making her best friend laugh.

“Fine, I'd give up, you girls are just a bunch of boring people." He dramatically rolled his eyes.

“Yes! It's K-drama and chill for us this night, you in babe?" Sunny asked knowing full well how he hated

K-drama.

“Oh hell no!" he exclaimed making the girls burst into laughter.

“Hey, are you okay?" Val asked walking in on Nichole seated at the balcony sipping on a sex on the

beach.

“I really don't know Val, I just feel as if something is missing within me. Those I trusted, those I loved

talking to, laughed with, smiled with and even teased, they're living their lives happily, they've long

forgotten that a Nicole once existed. You, you know something my friends never stay, they drift apart

when I need them the most and after that, they blamed me for drifting apart." she voiced out.

“Are you sure they were friends at all? Maybe you took them as friends and they took you to be

someone they know after they get what they want, that's a bye-bye. You're a wonderful person Nichole,

don't look down on yourself. You have a huge heart. Just try to live your life and be you. Let those who

have gone go, maybe those that are yet to come are far better than those who left." Val smiled at her

friend.

“Thanks, Val, I appreciate you and your truthfulness." She grinned.

“Thanks, now get your ass up from that chair we have an event to attend in four hours." She reminded

her as Nichole smacked her head while walking past her.

“Ouch, what was that for?" she rubbed her head.

“For not reminding me on time." she sashayed into the bathroom.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.

“Noah, why are you making dinner?" Soraya glared at her cook.

“Babe, iI decided to, don't blame the poor woman. She was scared to let me but I assured her it was

fine, isn't it?" he asked.

“No, no it isn't. I pay this, this lousy woman to cook for me, so why is she shirking her responsibilities?"

her nose flared.

“Ma'am I ----

“Would you shut the fuck up?" she fumed.

“Soraya!" Noah angrily exclaimed startling her.

“What? How dare you shout at me in my own house?" her tone matched his as the cook left the

kitchen.

“We all know it's your house, Ms Perfect. But show some respect for once, she's old enough to be your

mother," he told her turning off the stove.

“Well, that woman can never be my mom, and never raise your voice at me in my own house. You get

it?" she shouted.

“Yeah, because your mom didn't train you right and I will raise my voice to correct you anytime you do

wrong," he said as he caught her hand right before it landed on his face.

“Don't. You. Dare. Never try to raise your hands to slap me or another man again, you understand?" he

threw her hand down to her side as he walked to grab his phone and wallet from the kitchen counter

and walked out.

She stood dumbfounded for a couple of minutes.

Who did he think he was?

Coming into her life and home to warn her?

Pathetic fool! She said to herself as she opened the lid of the saucepan to see what he had prepared.

The aroma of the food alone made her anger go away.

Soraya sat in the parlour watching the time go by. As at 12:30 am, Noah wasn't back and the worst part

was he wasn't taking her calls. She was just worried sick about him. Yes, he wasn't a baby and of

course, he knew his way around Jersey City, but at least he could pick her calls to assure her he was

fine, but he wasn't doing anything of that, making her more worried by the minute.

Where are you, Noah? She thought worriedly to herself.

Noah unlocked the door to Soraya's house as he entered. He quietly locked it behind him in order not

to wake anyone up. He was headed upstairs when he found Soraya asleep on the couch. He could see

how uncomfortable she felt as she tossed around.

She stayed up waiting for me? He asked himself. He thought she would have been in bed by that time,

fast asleep, but here she was waiting up for him. He carried her bridal style up the stairs to her room. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

She had already showered and changed into her nightwear, so all he did was tuck her in bed and

headed off to the guest room after giving her a peck on her forehead.

She stood at the door to her new home. It was beautiful. She had signed a contract, with Matador

Records, NYC. Her contract with her previous label had ended and she had decided not to continue

with them due to some reasons best known to them, she wanted something big. She was grateful she

had met them earlier and so were they, she helped other upcoming artists hear of them and came to

sign contracts with them as well. She was going to miss them but she had to further her career.

The interior decor of the mansion was splendid. It wasn't too extravagant, but it was beautiful. She liked

the colour of the white and purple walls, the walls were white and then purple stripes run through.

“Welcome to your new home," Mason, her manager said behind her breaking her from her trance.

Mason was her friend in music school, he was studying a course to become a manager for an artiste,

and she learnt music. She had faith in him and decided to let him manage her, it wasn't easy at first but

as time went on, he became a good manager, and now he was great, he had other three upcoming

artistes he was managing as well, thanks to Jackie.

“Thanks, Mase. I couldn't have done this without you." she smiled at him. The mansion and the car was

a gift to her, even if their contract was done and she wasn't continuing, the label wasn't going to take it

from her.

“You're welcome love, you are me who I am today as well, I owe you that." he smiled revealing his

dimples.

“Just, settle in I have to go check on Alicia and Kyle," he said to her as he left. Alicia and Kyle were,

artistes he was managing as well. They were a duo. Jackie carried her suitcases one after the other

upstairs. When she was done, she checked all the rooms to see the one she liked. She chose the

biggest of all, it was a master bedroom. It had the biggest walk-in closet she had ever seen, which had

some new outfits in them, as well as shoes, and a minibar, that had juices, alcohol and even snacks.

The view from her balcony was so beautiful.

She even had a fridge in the room.

This is a dream come true.

God, thank you for this dream come true. She happily thought to herself recalling all the hardship she

had been through with her family.

Never again, She smiled.
