Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 714

Chapter 714

Hera scowled disdainfully. The first thing Bernard did was to stop her.

"I'll take you to meet someone tomorrow afternoon. After that, you can decide whether you want to meet with Linda the day after, alright?" Bernard explained.

Hera glanced at him suspiciously. He did say earlier that he would take her to meet Lucius. Was that happening tomorrow?

"Sure!" she answered. Hera did want to meet Lucius before seeing Linda.

Meanwhile, an executive meeting was held at Killian Corporation's conference room on the highest floor. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the issue of the company's plummeting share price, and it was held from afternoon until nighttime.

"How long will Mr. Rhett remain under investigation? The CEO position of Killian Corporation can't remain unoccupied indefinitely," Desmond Atkins asked. He was a marketing manager who held some shares at the company.

"Exactly. Killian Corporation's share price has reached an all-time low in the past five years. If Mr. Rhett doesn't return, the shareholders will only grow more concerned," Percy Atkins added.

Desmond and Percy were father and son, and they were also Linda's relatives. Thanks to Rhett and Linda's initial support, Desmond and Percy were able to climb the corporate ladder to where they were now.

Now that Rhett and Linda were in hot water, Desmond and Percy did not want to lose their backers. Thus, they were trying to urge Chad to bring Rhett back.

As for Linda, her crimes were too severe. Thus, they dared not bring her up for now.

"I agree. What's important is to secure Mr. Rhett's release. That will stop the gossip online and ease the shareholders' concerns."

"Mr. Rhett is the person in charge of the project of developing the new chips. The project is now in progress, and many things require his personal approval. He can't be away for too long."

"We should bail Mr. Rhett out before announcing our progress in the development of the new chips. That should be able to distract the netizens and bring their attention elsewhere."

After Desmond and Percy started talking, the other managers also began to give their opinions.

Chad sternly swept a glance at those who voiced out their concerns. Ever since Rhett became CEO, he had planted many of his supporters in the company.

Since it wasn't convenient for Chad to interfere from his position, he could only turn a blind eye.

Now that Rhett was in trouble, his supporters were blindly supporting him without considering what was right or wrong. If these people weren't dealt with, it would inevitably cause issues in the future.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"Indeed, the CEO position of Killian Corporation can't remain unoccupied for long," Chad said.

Desmond and Percy were secretly joyful to hear Chad's words. They were waiting for him to announce his plan for bailing Rhett out.

Once he was released, Desmond and Percy would be credited for Rhett's freedom. That would mean receiving a bigger year-end bonus.

As they happily imagined receiving their generous payouts, they heard Chad calmly continue, "Bernard has been managing Shuttle Ventures quite well for the past three years.

"The company's annual income has increased by 50% compared to before. Thus, he'll be transferred back to the headquarters and take over Rhett's work for now. We'll reassign their duties once Rhett returns from investigation.

His decision left Desmond and Percy stunned. Did that mean Chad had no intention of bailing out Rhett? No one knew how long the police would conduct their investigation.

By the time the investigation was over, no one knew whether Rhett could continue being CEO. Even Desmond and Percy weren't sure if they could continue working at Killian Corporation.

Was an illegitimate child like Bernard fit to replace Rhett as CEO?

"Shuttle Ventures is merely a small branch, so it's quite different from managing the headquarters. There's no guarantee that Mr. Bernard can manage things well if he's transferred back here, right?" Desmond spoke up.
