Chapter 11 A Pain in the Neck
Chapter 11 A Pain in the Neck
Amber stood at the window, watching Oliver in the rain through the gap between the curtains. That was
the man whom she had once loved so deeply yet became so unfamiliar with at that moment… NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
She thought in her mind: Did he love me? No, he did not. If what we had was true love, how could he
bear to have personally sent me onto another man's bed? Our relationship was nothing but a joke.
Amber drew the curtains shut, picked up the phone, and punched in her cell phone number.
Liam was driving when he heard a faint ringing sound under the car seat. Pulling the car to a side, he
bent over and saw an unfamiliar cell phone under the seat. It was an old model and was pretty worn
out too.
Liam answered the phone. "Hello?"
"Hey, it's Amber. Did I leave my phone in your car? Have you gone far?"
Amber was a little nervous. There were a few half-naked photos of her on that phone of hers. Emma
had persuaded her into taking them when they were fooling around, and she was distraught that Liam
might see them.
"I'll send it back to you." After saying so, Liam hung up. He must have accidentally pressed the wrong
button because a photo suddenly popped up on the screen.
The photo appeared to have been taken in a university dormitory. Amber was wearing a tube top and
panties, and she was smiling with her hands stretched towards the camera.
The girl's delicate, fair skin was visible despite the picture is quite pixelated. Her full breasts fitted the
black tube top perfectly, displaying a full yet soft curve. From her waist downwards, there was nothing
but smooth curves, a clear indication of her youthfulness.
She was smiling so happily in the photo, like a blooming flower caught in the sun.
Liam had never seen Amber like this before. Her youthfulness and smile were like a light so bright he
had to squint.
Resisting the urge to scroll through a few more pictures, Liam slipped the phone into his shirt pocket
and prepared to make a U-turn.
The cell phone in his pocket rang again.
"Hey, Mr. Croft, don't bother sending it back now. Your clothes are soaking wet, and I don't have any
dry clothes for you at home. You should probably head back as soon as possible and change out of
those clothes. I'll come and pick up the phone tomorrow. Don't catch a cold."
Amber's words were so sincere that Liam didn’t even notice how the corners of his mouth had slightly
curled upwards. He paused for a moment before answering with a single word, "Okay."
At the other end of the phone, hesitation was evident from Amber's voice as she added, "By the way,
don't go through my phone!"
Liam remained silent. He was suddenly curious as to how Amber would react if she knew that he had
already gone through her private photos.
Amber misunderstood Liam's silence and quickly explained, "It’s not that I doubt your character. I know
you're a gentleman and won't simply go through things that aren’t yours. It’s just that...that..." Amber
was at a loss for words. Well, there was no way she could straight up tell Liam that there were semi-
nude photos of her in it, right?
Liam was suddenly in a good mood, so he teased her, "Are there photos of you on the phone? The
more private type of photos?"
"What? Did you go through my phone?" Amber exclaimed, "Liam Croft! Give me back my phone right
now! Where are you? I'm heading over in a cab this instant!"
Liam let out a smile and replied, "Don't be so nervous, I only saw one photo."
"Liam Croft! You—You're so uncultured! I thought you were a gentleman! How could you simply go
through my phone!" Amber was pissed at him.
Liam raised his eyebrows and said in an indifferent tone, "It popped out on its own. It took me quite a
while to realize that the person in the photo was you."
"How dare he? He even scrutinized it for quite some time!" Amber thought. She was about to die from
embarrassment. Those close-ups of her had been scrutinized by Liam for heaven knows how long!
"Liam Croft! Where the heck are you?" Amber yelled into the phone, but all she could hear was a
beeping sound. He had hung up on her. She tried calling back, only to find that the phone had been
turned off!
Although she knew that it could have just been that her phone’s battery had died, Amber, still in a fit of
rage, paced up and down the house. She grumbled, “Damn Liam Croft! How dare he peek at my
photos!”
He was too rude of a person! So uncultured! What a pain in the neck!
