Chapter 263
Lemira stood her ground, letting out a cold smirk.
Evelina took a few steps back. She hadn't expected Lucian to be here as well!
What now? Lucian had heard everything she said!
Swallowing hard, Evelina explained, "Lucian, I was just looking out for Lemmy, you know? The stunt she pulled has ticked off a bunch of people at school. I said those words because I was just worried she might not be able to have a peaceful life at this school in the future. That's all I meant."
But Lucian wasn't buying it. He had caught the sneer in Evelina's voice as well as a tone that was clearly different.
His suspicious gaze on Evelina hardened as he began to wonder if she had always been this two-faced, and if that was why Lemira's relationship with their family had gradually soured.
Lucian turned to Lemira, "Sis, call me if you run into any problem. I've decided to move the business to Orvin, so I'm always around!"
All Lemira felt was irritation, "I only want one thing: for you to keep your distance!"
As she descended the staircase, she couldn't help but wonder why the Langston family always seemed to loom over her. How irritating! She didn't need Lucian's help.
After Lemira left, Lucian's unfathomable gaze lingered on Evelina, "Lemmy's going through a lot, and you didn't think to tell us?"
"...I was going to, but Lemira told me to stay out of it. I was just checking things out today before deciding whether to tell you."
Evelina couldn't even look Lucian in the eye, her guilt evident.
Lucian felt a pang of disappointment to Evelina, "Evelina, have you ever lied to us before?"
"Lucian, I've never lied to you, really, I swear!"
Evelina's eyes reddened in exasperation, a picture of wronged innocence.
If in the past, Lucian might have been softened and let this pass, but now he didn't feel anything. He began to doubt if Evelina was as sincere as she appeared, pondering if perhaps he had been deceived all these years. Once trust began to crumble, suspicion took root.
Lucian's voice was icy, "Just
remember what you said. Lemira will
always be Ms. Langston, my sister.
You only have what the Langston family chooses to give you. Don't get greedy."

Evelina was shattered at those words. All her efforts to ingratiate herself with the Langstons, what were they for?
But she bit her tongue, responding meekly, "Lucian, I've always known my place. I'm not a true Langston, how would I dare compete with Lemira?"
"Better think this way!" Lucian warned before leaving.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Evelina stood alone, her raised gaze dripping with malice the moment Lucian was out of sight.
She always knew she wasn't a true Langston To secure a good life, she had to fight for it. And she wouldn't
let Lemira get back to the langston family or steal everything from her!
Back in the classroom, Lemira received two consecutive lessons.
Despite her return, multiple peeks followed her. Clara couldn't hide her glee, "Back so soon, Lemira? Did the school decide to expel you?"
The buzz was that Lemira had incited enough outrage to merit punishment.
Lemira replied, her expression enigmatic, "You're going to be disappointed."
Clara, sensing Lemira's confidence, had a sense of foreboding, "Keep pretending, Lemira. There's no way you're getting off scot-free." Just then, the supervisor entered the classroom.
Seizing the moment, Clara raised her
voice, "Mister, are you here to announce Lemira's punishment? After causing such a disruption, it's only fair she faces consequences!"
BUMS
"Yeah, our phones have been a nightmare since that stunt. It's so inconvenient!"
The chorus of complaints echoed Clara's sentiment.
