When They Beg, I Rise!

Evelina shrieked hysterically, "Lemira, have you lost your mind?"

Tears and snot streamed down Evelina's face as she trembled all over; she had almost met her maker! Lemira had actually let go, that witch truly wanted Evelina dead! A cold smirk played on Lemira's lips, "I just wanted to live my life, but you keep haunting me. Well, now I'm game to play along!"

"What the hell do you want?"

At this point, Evelina was on the verge of breaking down. Lemira, that maniac!

Lemira turned around to grab a soda can, pouring its contents over Evelina's head, "I wanna see you squirm."

"Lemira, I admit my mistake. I won't dare do it again. But that night at the bar, Susanna forced my hand. You know how she is; I couldn't refuse."

Evelina was petrified at the moment. If Lemira had pushed her away, it would've been the end.

Seeing Evelina beg for mercy suddenly made Lemira lose interest; she couldn't believe she was taken down by such a duplicitous fool in her past life. Was she to blame for not being a good enough actor, for not being cunning enough?

Lemira stepped on Evelina's hand, speaking indifferently, "I can pull you up, but you need to do something for me."

"Anything you say, I'll do it! Please, don't kill me, I beg you!"

"You're aware of how much money Asher has poured into Lucian Corp's Al project, right?"

Evelina nodded vigorously, "Yes, I know."

"I need you to steal the data on that Al project from Asher for me."

Lemira pressed down harder with her foot, and Evelina nodded immediately, "Okay, I'll get it. Asher has always trusted me!"

Only then did Lemira lift her foot. Evelina sighed in relief, reaching out to Lemira, "H-Help me up, I can't do it on my own." Lemira, with a look of disgust, handed the can to Evelina instead.

Scrambling up, Evelina sat on the ground, shaken, and looking up, she yelled at Lemira, "You think I'd actually do it? Dream on!"

She had only agreed to Lemira's

terms to save her skin. The more Evelina thought about it, the angrier she got. She stood and charged at Lemira, "How dare you humiliate me, Lemira, this isn't over!"

Lemira grabbed Evelina by the hair and pushed her to the ground. She slapped Evelina hard twice, leaving her dazed.

Lemira held Evelina's chin, "I knew you'd back out! Didn't I say I had other evidence?"

"I don't believe you. You have nothing!"

"But here you are, which means you're guilty."

Lemira pulled out her phone, showing a photo, a screenshot from a surveillance video capturing Evelina drugging her.

Seeing the photo, Evelina went cold with fear, realizing Lemira did have evidence! Stammering, Evelina asked, "Why didn't you show this to my brother, but instead confront me? What do you want?"

Evelina was truly frightened of Lemira, the madwoman! She had no choice but to temporarily agree.

Lemira slowly stood up, "I'll be waiting for you, for the data."

Without another glance back, Lemira left the rooftop. Her lips curved in a cold sneer; she deleted the photo from her phone - it was just a photoshopped image.

But those with a guilty conscience

could never take the risk! She was

eager to see how Evelina would proceed! And she was equally

curious about Asher's reaction once he found out.
