Chapter 962
Gilbert rose and quickly entered the bathroom, returning with a damp towel in his hand, gently wiping her face.
But her tears wouldn't stop.
"Sherilyn," Gilbert's voice was thick with emotion, from his heart to his nose, "please, no more tears. You're going to hurt your eyes."
"How can I not cry?"
Sherilyn shook her head, "Jenna is still so young, she just had surgery..."
Suddenly, she looked up, glaring at him fiercely.
"It's you! It's all your fault! Why did you have to be Jenna's father? You weren't there when she was born, you haven't raised her! And yet, because of you, she has to suffer like this!"
"It's my fault." Gilbert hung his head, offering no defense. "I've let you and Jenna down..."
"What good does sorry do?"
Sherilyn reached up, grabbing his shirt, her eyes burning with anger, "Give me back my Jenna! Give her back to me! Oh..."
Feeling weak, her vision began to darken, her strength fading.
"Sherilyn?"
Gilbert, realizing she was fainting, quickly caught her, "Calm down! Lie down, rest for a bit!"
Saying so, he helped her to lay down.
Sherilyn's head was spinning, so she simply closed her eyes, refusing to look at him.
Gilbert gazed down at her pale face, clenching his fists in silence...
Time ticked by slowly.
For both parents, every second was excruciatingly long.
Gilbert stood up, intending to get a blanket for Sherilyn, not wanting her to catch cold as she lay there.
"Where are you going?"
However, as soon as he moved, Sherilyn opened her eyes, her gaze bright, "Is there news about Jenna?"
"No..."
Gilbert frowned, shaking his head helplessly, "I'm getting you a blanket."
"..." Sherilyn seemed not to understand, staring at him blankly, "Why are you still here?"
Saying so, she sat up from the couch.
Pushing him towards the door, "Don't stay here! Go find Jenna! Hurry!"
"Sherilyn?"
Gilbert's heart was in agony; in just a short time, Sherilyn was nearing a breakdown!
He couldn't let her go on like this!
Suddenly, he raised his hand, delivering a swift, controlled chop to the back of her neck. Sherilyn's eyes glazed over, her eyelids drooping, and she slumped into his arms.
Gilbert caught her steadily, carrying her to the bedroom, and laid her on the bed, tucking her in.
Holding her hand, he stared at her pale face for a moment before standing up and leaving.
At that moment, he couldn't bear to face Sherilyn...
Because he was afraid too.
If anything happened to Jenna, not only would he never forgive himself,
but Sherilyn... might not survive 1.9%
His phone suddenly rang.
It was Charles.
Gilbert answered almost instantly, "Hello?"
"Mr. Gilbert, the car that took Jenna was using a fake plate, we've lost its track."
"!"
Gilbert's face turned ashen, his jaw clenched in anger.
"Then find the car! Search every one if you have to!"
"We're searching," Charles said, "but..."
It was like finding a needle in a haystack, the chances were slim.
"Just do it, no excuses!"
"Yes, Mr. Gilbert!"
After hanging up, Gilbert's
expression was one of utter defeat, but he immediately dialed Nolan's number, "Any news on One?"
"Mr. Nine, not yet!"
OUMS
Nolan reported, "But, Mr. Nine, I think he'll contact you himself, maybe you should wait..."
