Harriette's POV
I tapped my feet uncontrollably on the floor while waiting for Alpha Darius to leave the rooth. I was waiting along with Luna Angela Alpha Mason wasn't in the pack because he left for a few days but Luna said he would be back tonight just before the fight
It's been two days since Rowan asked us to leave the pack and after tonight, we had just one more night to spend before we left.
I'd been trying to talk to the girl Ella told me about but whatever Ella did to that girl scared her to her core because each time she saw me coming along, she walked in the opposite direction. Or was it what I did to her?
Dear heavens, I only need to talk to her once. Make it happen. I beg you.
Alpha Darius came out of the room and just then, Alpha Mason walked up to us as well. What a coincidence
"You're late" Alpha Darius told his brother.
"Yes, I know. I had to do some things before coming. Now, what is this you said you're doing tonight?" Alpha Mason asked.
“He challenged Alpha Rowan to a fight,” Luna answered.
"Why?"
Well that was exactly my question. Why would he do something like that? Who in their sane mind would call for a fight for
no reason!
"To prove what point exactly?"
Alpha Darius looked at me. He disrespected our family"
“And the best solution to that is going back home and not asking for a fight. We're supposed to leave by morning, not treating wounds from a deadly fight,"
Alpha Mason spat
"Calm your horses, Mason. It's not such a serious fight. Just a duel, nothing more,"
Mason cocked his eyebrow and tilted his head.
"Listen, Darius. This isn't just a fight because your opponent is not a normal person,"
I suddenly perked up at his words. I wanted to know what he meant by that.
"What do you mean?"
A demon lives inside that boy," he said.
"What demon?" I quickly asked. Was he talking about Thorne?
"I think you should know better about that than me, Harriette, Alpha Masou answered.
I swallowed hard. Both Angela and Darius had their eyes on me quickly shook my head. "I don't know what you're talking about,"
"Stop panicking, Masote You're making everyone uncomfortable
"Ooh! Really? Would you be uncomfortable when he tears you into pieces?"
He spat
Darius frowned and walked closer to Mason.
"You need to stop
Alpha Mason surrendered. "Fine, I'll stop but know this, I warned you,"
I knew Alpha Darius was a formidable Alpha and he was power enough to handle Rowan but I had my doubts ab Thorne. Thorne had no emotions or feelings and that was what fueled his strength.
Still, there was no way Thorne would show up tonight instead of Rowan. It couldn't happen.
Darius placed both his hands on his brother's shoulder and assured him.
"It's just a friendly fight. No one would end up dead. I promise you,"
"I hope so, Alpha Mason answered and let out a deep breath.

We all left the house together. When we got to the arena, which was my first time, I was mesmerized. The end replace was almost filled with people. Alpha Rowan was on the other side of the room, again with the black sunglasses.
I stared at him for a few seconds. Luna Angela caressed my hand, She'd caught me staring. When I looked at her, she smiled and I shrugged. Something was different about Rowan's aura. Even though I was a few feet away from him, I could sense it. Once he lifted his head, he looked at me and smirked.
Shit! Shit! It was Thorne. My greatest fear was looking me right in the eye.
Right behind my back was the girl I wanted to talk to. I was suddenly torn between her and Thorne.
Both he and Alpha Darius got into the ring and I followed him immediately.
"Alpha Rowan, can we talk for a minute?" I asked.
He removed his sunglasses and stared right at me. I frowned. His eyes weren't red but they were a different shade of grey.
"There's nothing to talk about, Harriette,"
I held his hand and tried pulling him away from Alpha Darius.
"Stop being a bitch and walk away."
"Thorne, you shouldn't do this, I told him through gritted teeth
He snorted. "Yeah, right," He snorted before he added. "Rowan wanted it to be like this so leave while I'm still trying to be reasonable,
That wasn't possible. There was no way Rowan would want something like this.
I realized he wasn't going to listen so I went after Alpha Darius instead.
"Don't fight him, please,"
"Don't tell me you're orthis with Mason,"
"Not I'm not but please he's dangerous. He might hurt you," I advised him.
“Listen, Harriette, I understand your fear and I appreciate it but there's no way I would walk away from this fight. If I do, I'l be seen as a coward,"
"This isn't about your pride, this is about your life and forget about that friendly fight, to him, all he wants is blood, please don't let it be your blood," I begged him but he was as stubborn as a donkey.
"Harriette,"
"Please, Uncle D
I said what came to my mind and I hoped I wouldn't regret it later.
The way he looked at me was as though I just said the best thing ever.
"Okay, I'll do what..."
Before I could listen to the last of his words, a hand grabbed me and suddenly slammed me into the floor. I could swear I heard a bone crack.
My eyes went wide before my brain processed the pain. I looked up to see Thorne staring down at me with a smirk on his face. For a few seconds, a conflicting look passed across his face
What the fuck did you just do?" I spat.
"You were in my way, sweetheart,
Before I could blink and say shit, Alpha Darius went after him like a bull. He slammed Thome to the floor and what followed was punches being thrown and flesh being torn apart.
I didn't know who was winning but I lay on the floor there and tried controlling my breath while the pain reduced quickly. Alpha Mason pulled me out of the ring from the side.
"How's your back" He asked me.
"If I don't end up killing Thorne, call me a bastard,"
1 spat.
"Thorne?" He asked.
I quickly smacked my lips together and looked away.
All of a sudden, I heard a loud growl coming from the ring. Rowan had shifted in the middle of the figh
Everyone in the hall gasped. Rowan wasn't a regular wolf. It was different. I'd seen him shift before but it was not like this.
"He's a Lycan," Alpha Mason said with bewilderment.
-A red-furred Lycan
"He's going to kill him, Alpha Mason added.
Quickly, I got up to the ring and stood in front of Rowan.
"Harriette, what are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Alpha Darius spat.

I was just so captivated by his Lycan that I couldn't resist it. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. I'd seen him shift to his wolf but not to a Lycan like this. What was he? How could he possibly shift between two beings?
"Rowan," I called out. He growled and walked towards inc.
"Did he hurt you?" I asked him gently, referring to Alpha Darius He knew the rule of the arena like the back of his hand. He made those rules so he knew very well he wasn't supposed to shift mid-light
Something must have triggered him.
He brought his hand closer to my face but stopped. He was called a rogue god for a reason. His ability to shift between two powerful beings; one normal and one extinct was commendable,
"He didn't hurt me, I promise." I answered. That was when I realized he was asking about Thorne and I'd heard his voice in my head.
Rowan wasn't trying to fight Alpha Darius or kill him when he turned into a Lycan.
He was fighting himself.
Tears slipped down my face as I caressed his fingers, I looked up at him to see how intense his gaze was.
All of a sudden, he turned around and ran out of there.
