Chapter 472
Josh feared Everett might slip away, so he wrapped his arm around him tightly, buying Selena a bit more time.
He kept ribbing him, "You had your shot to make a choice, and you blew it. Now you're just reaping what you sowed!"
"Even if you manage to win her back, you're never gonna keep her heart, Everett. You've always been sharp, so why are you so blind about this, like you've got tunnel vision?"
"Love isn't a business deal that you can take over completely. It demands exclusivity-you can't have your cake and eat it too!"
"Just like you expect Selena to be with no one but you, yet you can't handle her falling for another guy!"
Josh never thought he'd be having heart-to-heart talks about romance with his grandson at this age. But you couldn't entirely blame Everett, not with the lousy role models he had a flaky dad and an indifferent mom who messed up his ideas about love. He tried using business strategies in love, but come on, that's not how it works!
In business, you might get away with being aggressive and power-driven, but in love, it's all about give and take, and willingness from both sides!
If one person's always calling the shots and it's a one-sided relationship, the other person's gonna get tired and want out eventually.
Everett's face ran the gamut of colors, from pale to purple, and then to downright stormy.
He clenched his teeth and declared, "She's the only woman for me!"
So, was it wrong for him to want her to think the same?
She was the one who talked about exclusivity but then found someone else!
"That's a load of nonsense!"
Josh couldn't help but laugh out loud, letting slip a curse.
"You've been giving her a house, money, resources, warmth, and care-did you give any less to that other woman? Is she not your woman too, or are you running a charity?"
Josh's humor might've been too much, as Alex couldn't help but giggle.
Then she caught Everett's icy glare, and she stiffened, quickly covering her mouth to stifle her laughter.
Time ticked on, and Everett's patience was wearing thin..
"Grandpa, I don't want to get into it with you, let me go!"
Josh knew that once Everett made up his mind, he couldn't hold him back. His grandson had grownup, no longer the little boy who needed guidance.
He sighed, "I've said my piece, take it or leave it."
He released his arm and lay back on the bed.
In a flash, Everett was striding out with determined steps.
Alex gave Josh a slight nod and followed him out.
Josh let out another deep sigh.
Selena, he'd done all he could. The rest was up to fate. Outside the hospital.
Everett grabbed the car keys from the driver settled into the driver's seat, and rolled down the window to say to Alex, "Stay here and keep an eye on Grandpa. Head back when the butler wakes up."
Alex replied, "Yes."
The man fell silent suddenly, his fingers tapping lightly on the steering wheel, and after a few seconds, he asked quietly.
"Alex, do you think... did I mess up?"
Hearing such a question from her boss was unimaginable for Alex, and she was taken aback.
As an assistant, the golden rule was that the boss is always right, even when wrong.novelbin
But still...
She hesitated, then said, "Mr.
Everett, your issues with your wife aren't for outsiders to judge, but regarding Ms. Margot, I think it's hard for any woman to accept her husband having ongoing ties with another woman."
